chantel washington: suicide bombing in Yemen.

A suicide bombing in Yemen is being claimed responsible by Isis. The attack city of Aden killed at least 52 soldiers and injured 34 others. Isis made its claim in a statement published on Twitter and tweeted by several Isis supporters.

I think this world is getting out of control. There's no reason great enough to take others lives. Instead of all this violence going on we should just take a chill pill and get along with everyone.

chantel washington: Islamic center shooter suspect found dead

a suspect of a shooting at an Islamic center in the Swiss city of Zurich was found dead in his sight of the attack. On Monday police said a gunman in dark clothing walked into the Islamic center and open fire on a group of worshipers standing in the prayer room. at least three men were injured and some were injured seriously.

I feel like some people would feel more safe knowing that at least a suspect of the shooting was dead. I know if I live that I would probably feel more safe. We really wouldn't have to worry about this type of stuff is there could just be world peace between everyone.

chantel washington:lethal explosion

On Tuesday at least 35 people died in a massive series of explosions in Mexico. It was a bunch of debt a blast that said smoke into the sky and ship the ground in neighboring towns. 28 people who died have been identified but the rest me take a little more time. The government of Mexico, Eruviel Avila Villegas, instructed his administration to assist with the cost of funerals. The explosion started in a fireworks store where there are many people buying fireworks for the upcoming holidays.

I don't know how the explosion really started but I think that people should really try to be more careful with fireworks. I'm sure every year there's some kind of accident associate it with fireworks. If people really want to enjoy fireworks I think I should leave it up to the professionals because they know how to do it safely to where no one gets hurt.

chantel washington:plotted terrorist attack

On Friday Australian police announce that they have made several arrest while executing search warrants in connection with an ongoing investigation into a plot to commit a "multi mode" terrorist attack. The police have five people in custody for questioning about the plotted attack.

I'm glad that the police arrested these five people because terrorism is very serious. I'm sure people in that area are scared but somewhat relieved. This article is probably made for everyone around the world to let us know that terrorism is a thing that is happening these days and should be taken seriously.

chantel washington: Europes mos wanted man

Anis Amri is the most wanted man in Europe. He moved away from home and move to Italy where he served four years in prison after he was involved in an arson attack on a school. According to German police he had previously discussed launching an attack in Germany. Police are still looking for him now and have offered an award of €100,000 to whoever had information about where he is

I really don't know what to say about this other than this guy has to be found. Someone threatening to attack a place can be really scary especially if the guy is nowhere to be found. I feel like police are doing the best they can to find him but sometimes even that's not enough. I really do hope this guy is found... and quick

Avery vance - Dylan roofe

Dylan roof has been found guilty on all charges placed him. He will be serving multiple counts of life in prison for the shooting of multiple church goers. He has been found guilty of murder, hate crime and obstruction of religious activity among other things.

What a sad sad stupid little boy. He of course deserves everything that comes to him but I hope he doesn't get death so he can serve out the rest of his sad life in prison stoning for his crimes.

Avery vance - Venezuelan riots against president

The current president of Venezuela is being protested against in the streets of Caracas, Venezuela. The current president is spending tax money on lavish personal needs and practicing corruption on a general scale. Thankfully he's been blatant enough to where he has no real supporters anymore and the protests against him are peaceful.

He's basically just a dumber version of Hugo Chavez and needs to be impeached.

Avery vance - Trump's cabinet

President-elect Donald Trump is filling his cabinet positions rapidly as the day he enters office nears. His cabinet choices reflect his beliefs and will certainly help push the envelope on much of his decisions as choices. We shall see this in action in a little less then a month.

"What are we, some kind of suicide squad?" - gayverys thoughts on the cabinet.

Avery vance - Aleppo back under assads control

The over year long struggle over Syrian city Aleppo has finally come to a conclusion. Assad, the Syrian dictator that the refugees in Aleppo have been fighting against, has regained control of the city. This isn't good for the Syrians as having a tyrant in power never is, and we can only hope things don't go too poorly from here, as acting in support of the refugees is a touchy subject.

I think this is a travesty, and that these people deserve to be freed from the iron grip that crushes them, but for the US to act would be in fairly direct opposition towards Russia, and I'm not to keen on the idea of world war three just yet. I don't really know what should be done and it's pretty scary.

Vincent Van Gogh Paintings Found - Grace Wolverton

"Two paintings by Vincent Van Gogh, Seascape at Scheveningen and Congregation Leaving the Reformed Church in Nuenen, stolen on December 7, 2002 from the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam are recovered, with a combined value of $100 million."

http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-37516164

"The two stolen paintings, once valued to be worth $100 million, are the 1882 work 'Seascape at Scheveningen' and the 1884/85 work 'Congregation leaving the Reformed Church in Nuenen.'" The paintings were found while Italian officers were going after a different case dealing with drug traffickers. The paintings were found in a safehouse.

Being an artist myself, I know the value of art and paintings. I think that the paints being put back into a museum for all to see and enjoy will be the right thing to do.

The Russian ambassador to Turkey; Assassinated - Grace Wolverton

Andrei Karlov, the Russian ambassador to Turkey, is assassinated in Ankara.

http://www.nytimes.com/2016/12/19/world/europe/russia-ambassador-shot-ankara-turkey.html?_r=0

The ambassador was assassinated while visiting an art gallery in Ankara in what the leaders of Russia and Turkey called a provocative terrorist attack. The incident was captured on video and the assailant killed. Some are saying that the recent attack could bring both Turkey and Russia together in the fight against terrorism.

I think that the terrorist attacks are better off being stopped. The alliance between Turkey and Russia will hopefully help make these attacks stop.

"Samsung wins legal battle against Apple"

After years in the Supreme Court's hands, Sumsung finally wins the court and will not have to pay the original $548 million it owes Apple for using their design for their phones.

I think that Samsung still owing Apple money for copying their phone model is somewhat right, despite there being some differences between the two phones, they are quite similar.

Samsung looks to buy the company to start building and selling automobiles, and to try to move on from the Galaxy Note 7 fiasco. They will also look to not just manufacturing cars, but to build automobile parts.

I think it will be interesting to see how originally phone or watch companies expand to make all kinds of technological advances; including cars and architecture.

A convoy of aid trucks has been hit by an air strike near the Syrian city of Aleppo, reports say, hours after the military declared the current cessation of violence was over. One unconfirmed report said 12 people were killed in the attack near the town of Urm al-Kubra. A UN spokesman said at least 18 of 31 trucks had been hit but could not confirm it was by an air strike. UN Special Envoy for Syria, Staffan de Mistura, said it was an "outrage". "The convoy was the outcome of a long process of permission and preparations to assist isolated civilians," he said in a statement emailed to Reuters.  The Syrian Red Crescent said the convoy had been making a routine delivery from Aleppo to rural rebel-held areas. Images posted online showed what appeared to be aid lorries engulfed by flames. Activist group the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) said 12 people - aid workers and truck drivers - had died. The Syrian government has not commented. Mr de Mistura's humanitarian adviser, Jan Egeland, said the convoy had been "bombarded" while offloading at warehouses. About 78,000 people are in need of aid around Urm al-Kubra

Floods that devastated North Korea last month are turning out to be worse than initially feared, with more than 100,000 people left without a home. That puts Pyongyang in the inconvenient position of having to turn to the international community for help — at the same time as North Korea is facing global condemnation after its nuclear test last week. "The effects of this flooding will be even more dramatic and devastating than initially thought," said Chris Staines, the head of the Pyongyang office of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. "The people there are in a very desperate situation." Staines was part of a group of 22 international and local staffers from 13 aid agencies stationed in Pyongyang who last week visited the northern city of Hoeryong, across the Tumen River from China. Floods ripped through the area Aug. 30 as Typhoon Lionrock lashed northeast Asia. North Korean authorities initially estimated that 44,000 people had been displaced between Onsong in the north and Musan, a major mining center 100 miles downriver. North Korea conducted its fifth nuclear test. The North Korean government has confirmed that 133 people have been killed and 395 are missing as a result of the floods, the U.N. Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs said Sunday.

U.S. Suspends Talks With Russia on Syria 351 Secretary of State John Kerry, left, with Sergey V. The United States formally suspended talks with Russia about the protracted Syria conflict on Monday because of the Russian military’s role in the assault on the besieged Syrian city of Aleppo. The United States also shelved plans with Russia for the joint military targeting of jihadists in Syria, the State Department said in a statement. The American step reflected aggravated tensions with Russia on a range of issues and raised new challenges over how to de-escalate and resolve the Syria war, which has left roughly half a million people dead since 2011. "The United States is suspending its participation in bilateral channels with Russia that were established to sustain the cessation of hostilities," John Kirby, the State Department spokesman, said in the statement, referring to the agreement on Syria reached with Russia on Sept. 9. The decision was announced less than a week after Secretary of State John Kerry threatened to suspend the talks with Russia aimed at reviving the cease-fire agreement. That deal collapsed after a few days, with each side blaming the other, as Syria and its Russian ally intensively bombed rebel-held parts of Aleppo, the northern Syrian city that has become a focus of the war. This created the conflict of many things with a lot of America's allies.

On the morning of Eid al-Adha in December 2006, Raghad Saddam Hussein, her sister and their children squeezed together in front of the television in Raghad's home in Amman and wept as they watched footage of her father being hurtled by masked men to the gallows where he would be hanged.

"I never saw that moment and I refuse to see it," Raghad, Saddam Hussein's eldest daughter, told CNN in her first interview since her father's death ten years ago.

Bush, who ordered the invasion of Iraq, said just after Saddam Hussein's death that the execution "would not have been possible without the Iraqi people's determination to create a society governed by the rule of law." Raghad, now 48, is the eldest daughter of the deposed Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein.

ISIS, or the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, started as the Islamic State of Iraq in 2006 -- the year of Saddam Hussein's death -- and expanded to Syria in 2014, three years after the eruption of violence there.

Satellite System Tracks Glacier's Flow - Mila Fisher

Scientists have developed a new tool to help track the flow of glaciers and ice as the climate warms. This satellite system was unveiled at the American Geophysical Union meeting is San Francisco, California this weekend. The US $1-million system is funded by NASA, and uses data from Lansat 8, which is a satellite designed to provide data on land-use and land-cover change (for example, the shrinking of the Aral sea in central Asia as a result of water diversion from agricultural use).
Mark Fahnestock, a glaciologist at the University of Alaska Fairbanks who helped develop GoLIVE (the Global Land Ice Velocity Extraction Project), has this to say on the subject.

“We now are watching all of the outlet glaciers on Earth change in real time, our eyes are open.”

This is a step forward in the right direction for solving global warming. This crisis has been on a slow burn for years, and even though some are taking action to help, many are still in denial of climate change in general. Technology like this can help spread awareness and hope, and while it's not a full solution, it's a start for sure.

This is something i have noticed every time that I go on a news website to do these current events or other. Just about every news site have several ads some even bigger than the actual story. Lots of the recommended titles in "Story's you might like" are clickbait, clickbait is a often misleading title to capture your attention so you want to view it. Clickbait is a common practice on sites like YouTube because the more views your content gets the more money you get. I hear talk all the time of news/media places that twist story's and facts to appeal to there audience. I pose the question can you trust news outlets that want your cash? Kate Boyer-Is it Possible to Harvest Energy from Waves?

In Ghana, people have invented a thing that can harvest energy from the power of waves. This idea has been pursued many times but has rarely worked. Even when they did succeed, investors(usually the owners of the project) need about 20 years before they can accept an offer. This is a very resourceful way of harnessing renewable energy, but it is very hard to come up with a design that will work in any given weather condition and strength of waves; thus presenting investors with a tough decision. Yam Pro Energy(YPE) has come up with a proposition that has investors and research companies interested.

Elizabeth McCullough- Trump's Cabinet Diversity, or Lack Thereof

Synopsis- President elect Donald Trump is currently waiting more a majority of his cabinet choices to be approved. If his current picks are accepted, he will a majority of white men in his cabinet. His top four positions are all white males, something that hasn't been seen since 1989. There are minorities in some of the smaller positions, but his team is still primarily composed of white men. None of his choices are Hispanic or Latino, and he has only one African American pick. He does however have three women of color.

Analysis- This does not surprise me at all. Trump's xenophobic nature more than foreshadowed such. He is a rich white man, who surrounds himself with other rich white men. It's just human nature. But the fact that it is 2016 and there is only one African American, and absolutely no Hispanic officers it just outrageous. I believe it reflects the nature of the entirety of his future presidency.

Synthesis: This synthesizes to the cabinet of George H.W. Bush, the last cabinet to have four white men as the most powerful positions. It goes to show how little we have grown decades later.

Tap water not safe to drink?

Just recently in Corpus Christi, Texas the city officials have alerted the citizens that a chemicals used in their asphalt may have contaminated the city water supply. The chemical Indulin AA-86, which is a asphalt emulsifier. Apparently anywhere from three to twenty-four gallons were dumped into the city's water supple after an accident in the Corpus Christi industrial district. Even though that is a pretty big margin between 3/24 gallons that is ALOT of chemicals. So I you know anyone who lives in Corpus Christi I would recommend telling them about this just in case they didn't hear about it.

The fight for Aleppo is coming to an end.  The government is gaining control over the eastern portion city.  Apparently a cease fire and evacuation agreement has been established there.  The city of Aleppo has been fighting their government since 2012 as I mentioned in one of my previous blog entries.  Today,  forces loyal to Bashar al-Assad killed 82 people.

Aleppo has put up a strong fight, but this war has to end.  Its already coming to a climax but it would be so much better if it could be a peaceful one.  Nobody wants the city to fight until theres no one left to fight.  As I also mentioned in my last blog entry, Aleppo needs to surrender, as noble as their cause may be.

This story wouldn’t be that big of a deal if this had been a one time thing, but according to sources this has been happening for the past ten years.  Think of how much sea life has most likely been destroyed due to these oil dumps.  Hopefully the jury on this case will make sure that the company gets what they deserve.

President Bashar Assad is completing the destruction of his country’s largest city, with the help of Russia. Aleppo is shuddering as bombs rain down. Between 200 and 300 people have been killed in the past week. Hospitals that were still functioning have now been hit, leaving nowhere to help the more than 200,000 residents, many of them already gravely hurt.

Aleppo has been fighting with the government since 2012 but this is the biggest strike yet.  I truly hope that Aleppo surrenders so the blood and hardship can come to an end. No matter what they do, this is a fight that I don’t think they can win.

Trump won, and now he has gone to the White House and met with president Obama.  Many people around the world expected this meeting to go terribly but from what we've heard, it was quite civil.  This is surprising because the two exchanged bitterly harsh words about each other on the campaign trail, but the current Oval Office occupant has pledged to make the transition to the Trump administration a smooth one.

Although my initial reaction to trump becoming president was fear, it's things like this that are somewhat keeping my hopes up.  And although our country is very divided right now there could not be a more important time for us to come together and I'm hoping we are able to do that.

Man killed in Dallas

A man was killed for selling a Dallas Cowboys player a fatal dose of heroin. Now before i even start, my first question is why isn't the football player getting arrested for trying to buy drugs? Or is this something else? Keelan Charles Muray was shot and killed at the age of 37 by a Duncanville police officer Wednesday at approximately 1:30 in the afternoon. In 1999, Muray was arrested very shortly after the death of former offensive lineman, Mark Tuinei, who died after purchasing heroin from him. Tuinei started to have breathing problems and shortly after died. Yes I do believe that what he did was wrong, but did he purposefully lace the heroin? Is he even the "producer" of this drug that he is making, because if not then this goes a lot deeper than what is happening right about now, because now you have to go through each and every step and process. You need to find out who made the heroin, then find out who drove it to the next location and whose hands it was in from there. So therefore there is a lot to take on and take in from this. It is not that simple, and it is not just his fault.

Killed For Having $32,100 In The Car

Kansas State Patrol illegally seized $32,100 in cash from a man who was ready to buy a truck. A man named Salvador Franco Jr's car without a warrant at a rest on I-70 near Ellsworth, Kansas. Franco and his girlfriend, allege that a trooper deliberately cued a drug dog to find his cash. The cash was found hidden under the back rear seat. The officer, Smith said that the money was being placed there simply because he thought it was the safest place for traveling. He recently had visited a cousin who just had a baby in St. Louis.

Killing a man cause of having money is so stupid and dumb to me. Polices aren't even here to protect us anymore. It's like there not here for us no more, there against us now. When did it get this bad, like honestly? Now you cant carry large amounts of money around. Its outrageous if you want to be honest.

Craig Fleming | 3rd Six weeks #5

This past Saturday in Bulgaria, a train carrying propane-butane(gas) derailed and exploded. 5 people were killed and 27 were injured. It destroyed about 50 nearby homes and buildings and other people had to evacuate. Its not sure what caused the crash. This incident is similar to the many other train crashes that have happened in America, which were due to speeding trains. I'm not sire if trains derailing is something that has been happening in the past, but it needs to be fixed in the future.
