Doomed Spacecraft Begins Final Dives Near Saturn's Rings

The Cassini mission is beginning to end. This bus-sized space craft has been 12 years exploring the Saturn system. With its fuel running out, it will spend the next 9 months focusing on the planet and its rings. Cassini's orbits should give scientists a better view of the outer edge of the massive A ring. This will also give better view to the small moonlets that are in this ring. By studying these moonlets, scientist are hoping to use them to get a better understanding of how the current planets in our solar system came to be.
