14 year old murders child by: Mikaela Carrillo

Everyone knows that teen pregnancy is very high these days, but no one tries to hide their pregnancy then kill their child right after birth. In Tampa Bay, Polk; a 14 year old girl, Cassidy Goodson has strangled her newborn child. Goodson, a 9th grader at Kathleen High School concealed her pregnancy for nine months, by wearing baggy clothing. She told Sheriff Grady Judd, that she had been feeling some sharp pains. On September 9th she had been treated at Lakeland Regional medical Center for what was said to be a miscarriage. When in reality she had gone to the bathroom, turned on running water, and put a towel in her mouth so it would block any sounds she may make. Then that was when she gave birth to her child. She pulled the baby from the toilet, and found a pulse. She then strangled the child, who was alive. Her mother was home during the birth, but never knew her daughter was pregnant. On September 22nd Goodson's mom was collecting laundry from her room when she smelt something. She found a bag of soiled clothing, which was found in her daughters storage stool. Her mother then found the babies dead body. The teenager is now being held at the Polk County Juvenile Detention Facility, and is being held on charges of premeditated first-degree murder and aggravated child abuse.

Obama and Romney Secure Israeli Commitment By: Nina Bharadwaj

President Barack Obama and Mitt Romney have promised to keep Israeli safe and secure. They made separate phone calls on Friday. They spoke to Benjamin Netanyahu, Israeli's prime minister, who has been upset with the U.S lately due to the U.S's position on Iran's nuclear ambitions.
The two  presidents are in a heated political campaign. Romney is claiming that Obama is not taking care of Israeli's security.  The U.S believes that Iran is trying to develop a nuclear weapon, but Teheran states that the purpose of it is peaceful.
Obama's administration turned down specific "red lines"that Israel and its allies have set on Iran. However, Obama has stated that Iran should not have a nuclear weapons. Romney stated that his policy contradicted Obama's, but he would have drawn the same "red lines."
When asked about the differing policies, Romney stated that it was a matter of action over lip service. Romney says that a military action should be on the table, but even though he claims to not wanting a war, Obama claims that Romney is trying to start a war.
The prime minister of Israeli welcomed Obama's commitment to do what is needed to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon.
As for the election itself, Obama and Romney are still debating over which states they will win. They are having many fundraisers and doing whatever it will take to become the new president.
I believe that the authors of this article, the CNN political unit, wrote this article to inform us about the ongoing tensions in Iran and how each candidate stands on the issue. I believe another reason for writing this article was to show how heated these campaigns are. It shows just how seriously these candidates are being so that they wil win America's vote.
I still don't prefer either candidate. They both say that they want to fix the issues that the U.S has, but when either of them become the president, they won't fix it because they have already won our vote. If I were old enough to vote, I probably wouldn't vote for either candidate. This is because no candidate deserves my vote if what they say they are going to resolve doesn't happen anyways.

2 Dead and 1 Critically Wounded at VFW Shooting in Florida by Corran Nolan

On the morning of September 30, 2012, the charity workers manning the Veterans of Foreign Wars booth in  Winter Springs, Florida were about to depart from the booth to get breakfast when an unknown number of gunmen started opening fire on them, leading to the death of two of the members and one being critically wounded.
The police say they have arrested a number of people involved and confiscated many weapons, according to one of the information officers. The Veterans of Foreign Wars has a mission to "foster camaraderie among United States veterans of overseas conflicts." Their core values state that they want to help overseas veterans and their families and promote a positive image for them.

2 dead at VFW shooting

The reason this article was written was to inform people about a current event that is a very sad thing for our country. When there is random killing of people who only want to help, then there is definitely a problem. Though it may not seem important to some people, the death of two, possibly three men is still a tragedy for this nation, because the VFW is an important service that is helping people who have protected our country and way of life, and have given up everything so that we don't have to.

The CFIA (The Canadian Food Inspection Agency) has shut down a meatpacking plant. The plant had produced a beef product that has made people sick across the US and Canada. People been sickened eating that steaks that have E. coli in them. On Friday, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service sent out a public health alert about the tainted meat that made it to the U.S. grocery stores in more that 30 states. The U.S. paused imports of beef from XL (Which is the name of the food plant) on September 13 E.coli bacteria can cause serious and life-threatening illness the stopping of XL foods will cause a lot of trouble through. It is one of the largest beef processors in Canada, It will weaken cattle prices, and limit option for cattle sales.Canada is the sixth largest beef and veal exporter in the world. I believe even though it will be hard they made the right choice on closing it down until they fix the problem is a good decision.

Boycott your lunches? Adam Phan

A new trend that is hitting Facebook and social medias is; "Boycott your lunches". A senior at a highschool decided to take a movement with creating the; "Brown bag movement". By starting this movement,  the rate of students purchasing lunches have dropped from 300 students to only about 20 hungry students waiting in line. Joey the protest starter started this revolution by taking pictures of his unappetizing  school lunches and posting them on his Facebook to start a trending topic to his fellow friends. Many different testimonials were posted on CNN's "Student Blog" all ranging from; satisfaction of their school lunch and even hate of their school lunch. Lunches around the U.S. are being changed with claims of no sodium and less fat, but most schools offer a negative Soda machine for the students. As the fight for better school lunches continue on, school districts plan to make a move on more appetizing lunches for students. Booker T. kids, I have talked to the school lunch ladies at our school and they would love to help change our experience on school food! Make sure to befriend the wonderful ladies and give them suggestions for new school lunches. We are Booker T. if our school's spirit is to be free and proud, shouldn't we also be proud on what we eat? Let's make a change for that, shall we?

"QR Codes For Headstones Keep Dearly Departed Close" by Sydney Magnall

Did you ever think that QR codes would make it to the grave stone? Well now technology is making its way to the cemetery. People such as Lori Miller are starting to add these to their families graves stones. People think this is a good thing because it will make you stay close to the loved ones you lost. Not only that, but you can also learn about others as you walk through the cemetery!  Lori Miller says, "Now I feel that I come out, and I put my smartphone on, and I can look at my mom and say, 'Mom, what were you thinking when you wore that hairdo years ago?' 'I remember when we bought that dress.' I think you can better feel, and walk away feeling better – maybe even laughing, sometimes," she says."
I think this is a very weird change, but a good weird change. I think a lot of good things will come out of this change.

50 Sent to Hospital After School Bus Crashed - Addison Norman

50 Sent to Hospital After School Bus Crashed
Article by: Jake Carpenter
Post by: Addison Norman

Friday, September 28, a school bus in Louisville, Kentucky, picking up Frost Middle School students got in an accident. The Jefferson County Public School bus hit a car at an intersection. The bus hit a Mustang that had three high school students in it, and the bus then flipped on its side. 50 people were then taken to the hospital. 47 of the 50 taken to the hospital were middle school students, around half had minor injuries, and the rest were taken for safety measures.
This article reminded me of the possible dangers riding a school bus, and the importance of knowing the safety procedures for an accident. Also, I’m wondering if busses will ever have any more safety measures, like having set belts.

School Bus Crash by Milan Hamilton

Forty seven students were taken to the hospital after this school bus rolled on its side.
47 middle school students in Louisville, Kentucky were taken to four different hospitals after their school bus crashed early Friday morning. After colliding with a Ford Mustang, the school bus fell onto its side. The three people in the Mustang were also taken to the hospital. About half of the students received injuries that were not life-threatening and the other half were taken as a precaution.

This is important because it shows how fatal car crashes can be. 50 people were taken to the hospital from one crash. This should change peoples perspective on the safety of school buses. School buses need more seat belts and safer seats to help prevent injury.

Five things to watch in the presidential debate

President Barack Obama and republican challenger Mitt Romney will have their first debate on Wednesday.  This article said there are five main points to look for during this debate.  First, they expect Romney has more pressure to perform.  Both men are experienced debaters, but Romney has more pressure to attack and try to rattle Obama because he is behind in polls.  Obama needs to be consistent with his campaign and perform well.  Secondly, views need to watch body language.  Odd movements or sighs have hurt debaters in the past.  Thirdly, both men need to perform well in the beginning.  Many Americans will form their opinions within the first 30 minutes of the debate.  Also, both candidates need to be correct with their information.  The last issue this article feels important is if Romney will continue to support the George W. Bus presidency or will he agree our economic problems were caused by him.

It will be interesting to watch the debate on Wednesday and see what the different reactions and views of analysts will be.

Earthquake in Irving by Sylvie Lednicky

Last night at about 11:05 p.m. there was a small earthquake in the Dallas suburb of Irving. It measured a 3.4 on the Ritcher scale, which isn't very big. There were no injuries reported, but it sure did knock down some pictures and crack some walls. Emergency stations and the local police were flooded by calls, no one was quite sure what it was. Aftershocks were felt that night and more are expected today. I felt the earthquake last night, and found it very surprising. I thought that California was the state that was supposed to be having earthquakes, not our small Dallas suburb. The epicenter was Farine elemantary, which isn't far from where I live. It may not have been harmful, but that earthquake was very startling.

15 Year Old Boy Killed by Dad- Kennedi Mayes

Early Thursday morning, a Connecticut teacher, Jeffrey Giuliano, responded to his sister/next door neighbor’s call of distress after suspecting someone was trying to rob her house. Giuliano grabbed his handgun and headed over to inspect the situation. Giuliano reported to have seen “a masked person dressed all in black clothing and wearing a ski-mask and holding a ‘shiny object.’” After opening fire at the masked individual, killing them, Giuliano was shocked to find that the suspect was his 15 year old son. Not all of the facts are straight and police don’t know if Giuliano’s son, Tyler, was holding a weapon at the time of the shooting. Further investigation is being held to see if the cause for Tyler running around being suspicious at 1 in the morning can be determined.

Killing of wolf pack criticized

Many people are criticizing the actions of the wildlife team in Washington for killing an entire wolf pack after many deemed them "to dangerous". "They have become used to cattle as their primary food source," one man said. They agreed that it was for the better of that area that the wolves be removed. But will they stop at just one wolf pack or will they go after ones that aren't even dangerous?

Onions Send McDonalds Customer into "McFury" Walker Tindall

Recently a Oregon man was charged for throwing a soft drink into a McDonalds employee's face and smashing a McDonalds cash register.  The man had ordered a a quarter-pounder with no onions and yet his burger appeared with onions.  He called the restaurant to complain, and they in turn offered him a refund and a new burger.  He reappeared at the restaurant but went it to a "McFury" because employees refused to then replace the burger since he had already eaten it.  The man was charged with first-degree criminal mischief, second-degree disorderly conduct, and harassment.  I think this event was some what acceptable on the employee's part, however they should have replaced the already eaten burger just to please the man.  However, disorderly conduct such as this man showed in unacceptable.  It is not right to get so mad because an order was simply wrong.  However, this man has now been charged, which I feel was the right thing.

Girl Paddled by Male Principal by Sylvie Lednicky

In Springtown ISD, a girl let another student copy from her homework. She was caught, and her teacher gave her two options for punishment: detention or to be paddled. She chose to be paddled, and her mom was called. Her mom thought that it was fine, because her daughter didn't have time to be in detention. Later, she found out that it was a male principal that had paddled her daughter and she got very angry. I don't think it matters either way, and that the woman shouldn't have been mad. Her daughter chose this punishment and she said it was alright.

High School Students Accused of Sexual Assault by Graysha Assoun

In La Puerta, California three teenage soccer players have accused their opponent teammates of sexual assault. This has frightened many parents living in the area and their coach is facing charges and put on administrative leave because of suspicion of something to do with this accusation. Parents, in frustration, made signs and banners calling the school officials to be accountable. Four people were cited and could face charges. Three are minors and the fourth an 18 year old. The officials have not found any physical injuries that could be evidence to their trial.
This is relevant because sexual assault is quite a big issue in this world today. The trial is still in progress, so we do not who the attacker is, even though we assume it is the other team players.

The 150th Anniversary Of The Bloodiest Civil War Battle

Even though the United States of America is  a place where every person is equal now, this was not always the case.
Earlier this week, the country commemorated two major milestones that paved the way for all the freedom we now enjoy - The 150th Anniversary of the Battle of Antietam and the subsequent Emancipation Proclamation.
The Battle of Antietam was the bloodiest battle in the civil war that happened September 17 1862. It was the first major battle in the civil war.
The Emancipation Proclamation is the document that freed slaves. It was created and enforced by President Abraham Lincoln.
The reason this article was written was because the author wanted to inform us about the 150th anniversary of one of the most important days in the civil war that freed slaves. They wanted us to celebrate the day because it's very important to our history.

Heather McKay Endangered baby panda dies of an unknown cause

A highly celebrated baby panda was born at the Washington zoo. However the 4 ounce newborn panda, only the size of a stick of butter mysteriously died 6 days after birth. The baby appeared to be healthy so the cause of death is still unknown. The only cause of death that has been ruled out i being crushed by it's mother. This is not only sad because the new baby panda was a highly anticipated attraction for the zoo, but because pandas are one of the most endangered species in the world with a population of only 1,900. Researchers hope to find the cause of death in order to prevent this from happening again.

"young adults drop out of the job market" Sophie Goetzmann

More and more young adults these days have been losing their jobs.  The drop is caused by 16-24 year-olds not wanting to find jobs.  There were about 450,000 fewer jobs then in August to July.  Only 27,000 young adults are looking for jobs. This is a huge problem because the people are getting lazy.  The unemployment rate went from 16.8% to 16.4% in July. ""I don't think they're more lazy. It's that there are less opportunities for them," said Heidi Shierholz.

U.S. Marines Referred to Trial for Urinating on Corpses - Cruz Rendon

Two United States marines were referred to trial for making a video of them urinating (pee-ing) on dead corpses of Taliban people in Afghanistan. Joseph Chamblin and Edward Deptola were also charged for misconduct and random and uncalled for firing of their weapons.
"Have a good day, buddy." Is what you hear someone say in the video. This i very uncalled for and disturbing. I don't think this helps the United States in any way, shape, or form. It gives us a bad vibe and makes us look bad.

This is has to do with our unit because we are studying the US and Canada and obviously, these are US Marines. It's very unethical and they're showing hatred towards their enemy in an on-going war.

Apple to hit $1 Trillion – Margaret Canady

Mark your calendars for April 9, 2015. Some statisticians and investors believe this is a conservative estimate for when Apple could become the first company ever to be valued at $1 trillion dollars. Other analysts have the date set for less than a year from now: August 16, 2013.

As of Friday, September 21, Apple’s value was $656 billion. While no one can be sure of the trillion dollar date, everyone can agree that Apple is a massive empire that has succeeded in almost every field it has expanded into.  From music players, cellphones, computers and laptops, Apple has been at the top of the pack.

The other possibility is that Apple never reaches 1 trillion; Nokia and Microsoft are just 2 examples of big companies that suddenly lost their “mojo”, peaking but never reaching the mark. Even if Apple does not enter any new product categories, they could reach $1 trillion just by doubling their sales. They are in line to do so, too: with the iPhone 5, Macs, and oversea sales, Apple just keeps getting better and better.

I’ve always admired Apple; a company that started out in a garage and worked its way to the top, its an icon that can inspire people and small businesses all over the globe. They’ve gathered a huge following of people who are smitten with every new product and innovation that comes out. They make you want something you didn’t even realize you needed. I wish them the best of luck climbing to the $1 trillion dollar mark, and like the rest of the world, I’ll be waiting for the next big thing they come out with.

The lack of organization for the charity's in Toronto caused everyone to be precautious before helping any organization involving money exchange.

A recent report in Srpingtown, TX claims that a 15 year old girl was spanked in class by a male vice principal for letting her friend copy her homework. The mother of the daughter is trying to get the policy changed so that corporal punishment be banned in schools. Her daughter complained that where she was spanked was "numb and burned". The mom had and issue that a male faculty was doing the punishment to her female daughter. The board is having a meeting about doing away with same-sex spanking. Similar incidents have happened with other kids in many highschools. Many states have banished corporal punishments so far.
http://www.foxnews.com/us/2012/09/24/texas-school-district-to-reconsider-corporal-punishment-policy-after-complaint/?test=latestnews

This article was written by Joshua Rhett Miller, and was published September 24. I think all corporal punishment should be taken out of schools. Showing physical punishment to students is not a healthy way of living. I think that the schools should handle punishment in better way like detention, ISS, or suspension. Spanking is to harmful np matter the surcumstances at school.

Baby Panda's Random Death

At the Smithsonian's National Zoo in Washington a tradegy has occured. A baby panda bear, six days old, has died of no clear reason. The bear died a couple of days ago at the zoo when the zookeepers heard the mother panda, Mei Xiang, honk in distress. They found the cub not breathing and with no heartbeat. The necropsy showed unusual fluid in the cub's abdomen and its liver, which could of caused or contributed to the death. The zoo has been curently grieving because the mother panda has had five failed pregnancies and was hoping this would be the one. The zoo also believed the baby panda would increase the attendance by half-million people this year.

Obama's policy on Iran bears some fruit, but nuclear program still advances By Tristam Vowell

Barack Obama's Presidency brought forth the issue of helping Iran develope nuclear power. In this recent ongoing debate he has chosen a path that neither side expected, and hehas continued to offer rapproachment to the Iran leaders and with the rejection of it managed to build an international wall against Iran's enriched uranium production.

China, Taiwan, and Japan Fight for Disputed Islands -Hadassah Lai

Chinese and Japanese ambassadors met in Beijing, China to settle the issue of the disputed islands. Apparently, six Taiwanese boats had entered Japanese claimed waters. Those boats were not the only boats that entered Japanese claimed waters, fifty Taiwanese fishing boats and ten patrol boats as well as five Chinese government boats also invade Japanese waters. Japan will also visit Taiwan in a separate trip and settle the dispute over the East China Sea islands which were claimed by all three countries.

New York Schools Make History By Kendall Ray

It has come to the attention that 14 different schools in New York are now offering birth control pills to their students. This has been going on since January 2011 and has already reached 1,100 pupils.
This program that offers said contraceptive tools is called Connecting Adolescents to Comprehensive Health. What this does is offer "morning after pills" to educational facilities that tend to have a higher rate of pregnancy. These schools also don't have as much access to healthcare.
Nearly half of the teens in New York City have already had sexual intercourse and seven out of ten young women that get pregnant drop out of school. These numbers are baffling, one would think that the people would be all for it, but that is not the case here. This new and well, rather helpful program is facing criticism.
Students don't need permission to get these contraceptive items unless their parents decide not to participate in the program. Some people question, are they ready for this new step in our nation's history?

No Permit, No Play By: Zaria Chambers

In Hartford, Connecticut city officials are cracking down on people who do not have a permit to get into a park. Sad right? Since there are so many different sporting events officials are asking for permits. I think this is crazy I don’t think it is necessary to have a permit to play in a park. What do you think?

This article was written by Bob Wilson. I think this article was written to inform people about permits needed in Hartford, Connecticut. I think that it has a positive influence on readers.

An eye-witness - who survived the shooting with a bullet wound - claimed that the shooter was Smith, and he recently admitted to lying under the pressure of the police. The police had told him that they knew who did it, and he felt like he had to go along with it.

Attorney Deirdre O'Connor says that lawyers and police often take "shortcuts" in gang cases, and Smith's case failed to be properly investigated at trial and on appeal.

Smith was released by the end of the day.

Rescued Endangered Sea Turtle-Kennedi Mayes

A 7 foot long, 655 pound male endangered sea turtle got caught in a mud flat near Cape Cod. A group of volunteers and professionals helped take it to the Marine Center where it was treated for its ‘near death’ state. One of its flippers was severed from an attack or collision with a motor boat. Almost 20 leatherback turtle have died from accidents like this. Fortunately though, this turtle was saved and is recovering.
I really like turtles and i want a little mini turtle myself, so to hear that one was saved just warms my heart.

Teen Gets Support From Town After Homecoming Prank- Rian Pettit

Whitney Kropp, a sophomore in high school, is getting support from her small town in Michigan after a cruel prank was pulled on her. Kropp was voted to be on her school's homecoming court as a prank. Whitney was humiliated after finding out on September 13th, that her selection was a joke.

"She was getting ridiculed in school and on Facebook," Kropp said. "But then," Kropp added, "other kids started coming up to her and saying, 'Whitney, don’t let them stop you from going to homecoming. You need to go ahead, you need to do it'."

Local business are pitching in to pay for Whitney's dress, dinner, shoes, and tiara for the dance. Whit’s End Salon in West Branch styled Whitney's hair for the dance. Others are giving things such as encouraging words to Whitney for support.

Bullying is wrong whether it's physical or verbal, it's good anytime someone can pitch in and lend a helping hand to stop bullying.

Junk Food For Cows?! MOOOO! By: Lucy Hinderliter

Because of major droughts in the U.S., farmers are feeding left over junk food to their cows! Usually, the cows eat corn, but because there is no corn, the farmers think that cookies and gummy worms are a better substitute. The farmers were excited that this new resource is able to keep their livestock fed.
Ki Fanning, a nutritionist with Great Plains Livestock Consulting in Eagle, Neb. says, ``Everybody is looking for alternatives. It's kind of funny the first time you see it but it works well. The big advantage to that is you can turn something you normally throw away into something that can be consumed. The amazing thing about a ruminant, a cow, you can take those type of ingredients and turn them into food.'' Corn alternatives are in high demand because the drought has caused an extra small corn crop.

West Nile in Dallas

"2012 is now officialy our worst year in the state of Texas for West Nile," says David Lakey, commisioner at the Texas Department of State Health Services. He recently recieved a phone call with reporters to talk about the sudden break out in West Nile that led to Dallas and Denton county being sprayed with insectiside. The data showed that the insectides did help reduce risk of contracting the disease significantly. However, Dr. Lyle Peterson, director of the CDC’s Division of Vector-Borne Infectious Diseases says that West Nile cases will keep growing all through the United States and will not start dying down until October. The most recent data shows 1,993 human cases and 87 total deaths in the U.S.!! I know many of us may think since it is not summer anymore we're safe from these mosquitos but we are not! Please remember to spray yourself with bug spray and dont leave any open puddles of water around the outside of your house. It is important to be aware of this dangerous disease and to know how to protect ourselves from it. http://thescoopblog.dallasnews.com/2012/09/health-officials-u-s-suffering-worst-year-ever-for-west-nile-virus-spread-but-data-in-north-texas-is-encouraging.html/

NYPD: Tiger's Den Jumper by Corsica Steding

CNN's Brittany Brady and Susan Candiotti wrote this article on September 23.  As we all know, tigers have been known to attack people, but surprisingly a 25-year-old man was not attacked when he jumped into a tiger's den.  He actually said that he jumped into the tigers den to become one with the tiger, and that he wasn't drunk or crazy.  Somehow, I find that hard to believe, but apparently the man had had a fascination with tigers and that was his reasoning behind jumping.  I think this article was written to show how this man was very lucky to not be hurt by the tiger considering the tiger had an opportunity to attack. This article also shows that doing something this idiotic doesn't always end up this way.
David Villalobos was riding a zoo monorail car when he jumped from the monorail car into the lions den. When he landed he broke his right shoulder, a rib, his lung collapsed, broke his ankle and pelvis, and suffered puncture wounds.  He then claimed to had pet one of the tigers. This tiger den had hot wires around the plant beds so the animals wouldn't go in them.  Villalobos was then instructed to roll under one of the wires for safety. When he did so, the tiger backed off. He is currently hospitalized, and  is charged with trespassing.  He will be arraigned when he is out of the hospital.

Orion spacecraft to Make Home in Virginia--Sydney Abdo

It has been announced by NASA and the Virginia Air and Space Center that a full scale test version of the Orion spacecraft will become a part of the museum's permanent collections.

The Orion test vechicle was built in Virginia, and it would make sense that it stays in Virginia once testing is finished.

The Interim Director of the VASC mentioned that it would be an "Ideal way for us to share the NASA story and showcase the latest NASA technology."

The Orion spacecraft has been housed at the VASC for the time being, and now will become a more ermanant fixture of the museum. For the time being it is being kept next to the Apollo 12 command module. This has been intersting for this gives visitors the chance to compare what the historic moon spacecraft were like, and then see how the future one will look.

Orion will be launched using NASA's new Space Launch System, late into the year of 2017.

An unidentified suspect was taken into police custody on Sunday and will appear in court Tuesday.  The suspect is going to court only so a judge can determine if there is enough evidence to hold him, or if the suspect can be released. What do YOU stand for? The Dirty Politics and why it needs to stop.By: Daizha Lankford

http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2012/09/24/pre-game-debate-prep-and-punditry/?hpt=hp_t2

A very interesting article caught my eye when I was roaming around CNN Last night. Written by  Halimah Abdullah I was very interested after reading the material. A man named Matt Ankenbruck has done something that maybe we should all think about. He has cut off all  access to the Political Campaign. He got rid of his t.v, Stopped his newspaper subscription, and even stopped listening to the radio. The type of voters that the Candidates are sending so much time and money on are he usual Social active americans. The people who are undecided and like to go with the flow, who do not listen to others but make opinions for themselves are the real ones the candidates need to look at.  Halimah Abdullah has written several articles about the campaign in the past few months and is planning on to continue up until the big day. I already knew much about the politics and how dirty this campaign has been. At this moment in time the candidates are so busy trying to bring eachother down no one has really focused on the issues and how it effects our country. I believe this article was written specifically for President Obama and Mitt Romney. The two candidates need to focus on the issues and need to let people make here own opinion. The television cannot tell us who is better neither can the radio or magazines. At the end of the day it is up to us to decide who is right for us and our country. Abdullah states in his article
"If you think about what these ads are trying to do, they are trying to convince that 7% in the 20% of states that matter," said John Geer, chairman of Vanderbilt University's political science department. "It's a small slice instead. These people might be undecided but they tend not to follow politics and might not turn out to the polls."
This article is very important to let everyone know what is going on and how we can change it Politics can turn the wrold upside down if we listen to non-sense and do not use our brains. So, the next election or when your parents go to vote this year ask them one single question. " What do you stand for?"
http://blog.sfgate.com/dailydish/2012/09/24/demi-lovato%E2%80%99s-weight-struggles-began-at-age-three/

Demi Lavato has always had a problem with her weight ,weather she was skinny or she was thick. I can honestly say I understand how that feels because I was never the skinny one. I'M STILL NOT no one ever accepted me for who I was being fat as society calls it ! I never want to be skinny  but I would like to be small ! I also have a confidence issue so one day I hope I can over come that and I pray Demi will to because I truly look up to her !!!!!!!!

“I remember being three years old in a diaper and rubbing my hand over my stomach, like I remember thinking in my head, ‘I wonder if one day this will ever be flat?’ It just continued. I’ve always had self-confidence issues… and it also didn’t help that I had kids in school at such a young age that were really, really naturally very thin, so I always felt like the bigger one of the group.”

Officer Kills Amputee in Wheelchair by Elaine Hennig

Houston police shot and killed a double amputee who was in a wheelchair because they said the man was trying to stab an officer with a pen. The man, Brian Claunch, who suffered from schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, was living in a home for the mentally ill. The officers were responding to a report that Claunch was acting aggressively. When they arrived, Claunch advanced one of the officers with something in his hand. The  officers told him to drop what was in his hand, but he did not. He ended up cornering the one officer, attempting to stab him with the object, which turned out to be a pen. The other officer, "for the safety of his partner and the safety of himself", shot Claunch in the head, killing him.

An expert said that emotionally disturbed individuals will often react excessively when threatened. Claunch enjoyed drawing, which might explain why he was holding the pen. It seems as though the officer reacted improperly to Claunch's act of violence. After all, Claunch was in a wheelchair with a pen, against an able-bodied officer. Officers should be trained to deal with mentally ill people, so something like this won't happen again.

NYPD: Tiger's den jumper not drunk or crazy - Jack VanGorden

A 25-year old man jumped from a monorail car into the Bronx Zoo's tiger den recently. He was supposedly fascinated with tigers and spent long hours at the zoo for the past month. New York Police Commissioner Ray Kelly stated, "there was no evidence Villalobos was mentally ill or was intoxicated... he just momentarily lost any semblance of common sense."David Villalobos, the jumper, is hospitalized in stable condition but suffers a broken right shoulder, broken rib, collapsed lung, broken ankle, broken pelvis, and puncture wounds. Most of his injuries appear to be the result of the 17-foot fall from the monorail. Villalobos told the police, "his leap was definitely not a suicidal attempt, but a desire to be one with the tiger."David was charged with misdemeanor trespassing and will be charged after he leaves the hospital.

Cassidy Kaye- 3 year old missing for over a year with no answers

3 year old missing for over a year now and still no answers!
The three year old girl Aliyah's mom is in prison for welfare fraud, with six brothers and sisters in the care of child wellfare officials it seems that her dissapearance has been forgoten. The girls mother claims that she checked on her daughter in bed and just hours later she was gone! All though many assume that the young girl is dead the FBI is still offering a $20,000 reward for anyone who has information on the case.

This article has a negative affect on it's audience, it causes them to wonder why this girl has yet to be found, and what can be done to find her. This article is important because it has an impact on our safety, and encourages anyone who knows anything about the case to report it immediately. The main idea of this article is that the young girl has yet to be found, but with everything going on around her it's as if she's been forgotten.
