Houston Cop Kills Double-Amputee in Wheelchair By Sydney May

Sydney May

In Houston, a cop shot a man that was short one arm and one leg because he was being threatened with an object that was soon discovered to be a pen. According to the article, the man was aggressively threatening the officer and waving the "metal object" to a point where the officer had to do something. The man who lost his life to this unfortunate happening was hit by a train, which caused his arm and leg to be removed, and he was also a mental patient, which explained the threat to the cop. It is said that the man got to about a foot or so from the police when he shot, which is bizarre that he could not see that the object was, in fact, a writing utensil. The officer failed to do what he was supposed to in these kinds of situations: stay calm and remain still. He was put on a three-day leave, which is standard for shootings. It's unfortunate to hear that a trigger-happy officer had to take a life of a handicapped man.

This article was created by the Associated Press. The article was very factual, and didn't show much bias towards anything, which was nice because you could get the full story. The purpose of this story is to simply inform people of the world's happenings so we can be up-to-date on current events. I personally found the article to be interesting because it occurred in a town so close to mine, and I hope something like this does not happen in Dallas any time soon.
