Man Wanted "to be one with the tiger" By: Nina Bharadwaj

On Friday September 21, 25 year old man, David Villalobos was charged with trespassing for jumping out of a monorail car in the Bronx Zoo's tiger den. He claimed to want "to be one" with the animal, stated the police.
Villalobos was riding the  zoo's Wild Asia monorail around 3pm on Friday when he leapt out of the car, "clearing the exhibit's perimeter fence" and landing in the den, according to the Bronx Zoo Director, Jim Breheny.
David Villalobos is now hospitalized in stable condition.  He indicated that this leap was not a suicide attempt, but was rather a desire to be one with the animal, stated Paul Browne, the NYPD's chief spokesman. Villalobos suffered a broken right shoulder, a broken rib, a collapsed lung, a broken ankle, a broken pelvis, and puncture wounds. Villalobos also claimed to have supposedly pet one of the tigers before it backed off.
Zoo officials said rescuers used a fire extinguisher to separate Villalobos from the tiger, After being repeatedly told to do  so, Villalobos rolled under a hot wire to reach safety, and the tiger backed away. Following these instructions most likely saved his life. As Villalobos was being transported to the hospital, he was conscious and talking, as he was being taken to Jacobi Medical Center in Bronx, New York.
The Zoo uses hot wires to keep animals away from certain areas. If the animal touches the wire, it feels a small shock.
Villalobos was charged with trespassing and criminal trespassing. An arraignment has not yet been set.
"I think it's safe to say that if the tiger really wanted to do harm to this individual he certainly had the time to do it", Breheny said. "This is just an extraordinary occurrence that happend because...somebody was deliberately trying to endanger themselves."
Analyzation: This article was written by Brittany Brady. I think that she wrote this article just to inform us about human and how un-intelligent many of man-kind is. Sure this man may have wanted to be one with the tiger, but did he even think about how much danger he put himself in? I mostly got out of this article that although many adults do, in fact, have more common sense than us kids, there are the rare few that don't think and just do. I know, for a fact, that I would never purposely put myself in a decision that could risk me not being alive ever again. Before making decisions that could literally be life or death changing decisions, we need to think about the effect that our choice might have on us, in the future. If we pick the wrong choice, it may seem like nothing at first, but in the future it will come back and you will regret the choice you made.
Aside from that, I do hope this man gets better soon, and I hope he has learned to think about his actions from now on.

  2. Why do people do things like this? If he wanted to get up close to the animal I'm sure there are other options other than jumping out of a monorail.

  3. today on the radio they said that zoo oficialls were considering killing the tiger even though the man clearly put himself in this situation!! That's insane why would you purposely put yourself in a place where you know you are going to get hurt!

  4. I saw this story on tv. It really got my attention how all his injuries were from the fall he had none from the animal. The guy claims he got to pet the tiger, maybe he is one with one?

  5. "To be one with the tiger"? Seriously? I really wonder what was going through that guy's mind. If he wanted to pet a tiger, find out where he could pet a tiger. Don't go jumping out of monorails and nearly killing yourself. Of course the tiger was going to attack him; the tiger shouldn't be punished for this crazy guy's stupid actions!
