Kevin Spacey - Avery Vance

Actor Anthony Rapp has accused actor Kevin Spacey of sexually assaulting him when he was 14. Anthony's allegation was from sexual advances in 1986, in Kevin Spacey's apartment. Kevin Spacey issued a public apology but said he did not remember the incident.  Anthony Rapp said he felt he was compelled to come forward after the Harvey Weinstein scandal became national news.

Brock Turners fierce return - Avery Vance

Brock Turner was given a very light sentence last year for the sexual assault of an unconscious classmate behind a dumpster in 2016. Despite being literally captured on the scene by two heroic classmates, Brock and his scumbag father fought tooth and nail to keep Brock out of jail. Brock's father stated "this is a steep price to pay for 20 minutes of action out of 20 plus years of his life", illustrating just how scummy he is. Sadly Brock has returned to the news because his lawyers are trying once again to get him out of trouble by claiming his court trial was unfair. Hopefully his lawyers and him get shafted him preferably in prison by a very burly hairy man who'll teach him what it feels like to be penetrated without consent.

Gal Gadot alleged refusal to wonder woman sequel - Avery Vance

Gal Gadot, actress and star of the hit film Wonder Woman, has been reported to have said that she will not be a part of the Wonder Woman sequel unless Warner Bros. dumps Brett Ratner, a prominent producer in hollywood who has been accused of sexual assault by many women including actresses such as Ellen Paige. There has been no statement released by either Warner Bros. or Gadot herself, however these reports seem plausible as Gadot had recently dropped out of an awards ceremony where she was supposed to give Ratner a lifetime achievement award. This statement along with her quite obvious stance on sexual assault in the industry makes these reports seem as though they hold more weight.

Roy Moore sexual assault scandal - Avery Vance

Candidate for Alabama senate Roy Moore has been accused of sexual assault, derailing his campaign. Thirty eight years ago, judge Moore allegedly sexually assaulted a fourteen year old girl when he was thirty two years old. Clearly an illegal act, the stance taken in a situation like this is usually "innocent till proven guilty". However, since this involves someone potentially in a position of political power, that is a not the stance being taken. This mans campaign has been almost entirely derailed as a result of this and while I do hope the accusations are false as that means less evil is being conducted in the world, if these allegations are true I hope judge Moore gets put behind bars and soon.

 The Texas shooting

This shooting took place in Sutherlands, Texas.

This shooting took the lives of 26 people.

 This shooting... Isn't being politicized?

Well there's a reason why.
This article holds the events that happened in that church where 26 people lost their lives.

Everyone is pulling up reports of mental health and the failures of the Air Force left and right.

Here and there are articles that hold records of things that people yearn to see.

However, this articles holds the events that happened that unfaithful day in sutherlands, Texas.

This article has real accounts from real witnneses.
This is a short summary of what happened:
26 people lost their lives to a single person with an assault rifle. The gunman targeted children, Couples, the elderly, the young, those who had days left...and those who had life barely given to them.

26.

Gone.

This sparked an outrage of people who wanted to express their views on gun control.

Some wanted it enforced so that no one will repeat this horrific scene again.

Some want to make sure that there is going to be less deaths with more guns.

This is all being  referenced to the 2nd amendment.

More Accusations Risk Weinstein's Imprisonment-Victoria Gonzalez #1-3rd 6 Weeks

Harvey Weinstein, a business man and well-known Hollywood producer, has been accused of groping and raping some of his clients. This includes models, actresses and as much as 60 women who have accused him of rape. Most often it has been meetings in his hotel rooms, office and anywhere in which he is free to attack on an unsuspecting victim without any witnesses. However, out of the 60 cases, accusations and claims that Weinstein is a rapist this case strikes the police as powerful due to "The strongest case we've had that first within the statute of limitations,".  Also, according to NYPD Chief of Detectives Robert Boyce, the case is even more credible to actually press charges due to the intimate detail of when, where, why, and how these events occurred.  However, I do believe that these cases need to be more encouraging of women to come forward. When they decide to finally step up and speak about their issues, it's too late to acquire details about the events due to the long time gap between stepping forward and the night the attack occurred.

Young girl taken into custody after surgery

Summary: After having emergency gallbladder surgery in Corpus Christi, an undocumented 10 year old girl with cerebral palsy,  is being allowed release after being held in federal custody. Upon finding out that the young girl’s family who took her to the hospital was undocumented, border patrol agents followed them to the hospital. After being sued by The American Civil Liberties Union, Rosa Maria is being sent back with her family to recover.
Synthesis: Not too long ago, another family suffered from the same situation. Their child was a newborn baby who had to have emergency surgery in Corpus Christi but since they were undocumented, it was possible that they could get deported.
Analysis: It’s sad that people can’t even provide their children with proper healthcare without the possibility of having their family torn apart. I get that these are the laws and border patrol agents are just enforcing them, but something has to change. I’ve been hearing, what seems like many stories like these, and it makes me wonder how many other families have been put in a position where they have to determine whether they want to help their children or have their family split up. However, it gives me hope to see that there are people who fight for others and give them a voice. The support these families get is incredible to witness and it just goes to show that there are still good people in this world.

Harvey Weinstein - Avery Vance

Producer Harvey Weinstein has come under an extreme and essentially irrefutable amount of accusations of sexual abuse and assault. The accusations come from many, and I do mean many famous actresses along with several not so famous. The most disgusting thing about this situation is how much of a "known secret" it appeared to be within the Hollywood community. Regardless, Harvey Weinstein is already facing some of the consequences for his actions, such as being cut loose from the Weinstein company and being expelled from the motion picture academy.

I think this is disgusting and it's horrifying that potentially so many people have just let it happen. All that does is just add to America's rape culture and that's a travesty in and of itself. We have to stop stuff like this so that everyone can feel safe and comfortable in their work environment and that people in a position of power aren't allowed to abuse said power.

Valerie Garcia- Michelle Obama slams women who voted for Trump

During a talk at a market meeting in Boston Michelle Obama was talking about the women who voted for Trump. 41 percent of women voted for Trump in November. Michelle said that the women who voted for Trump voted against their own interest. She went to suggest that women only voted with him to go with the pact.
I agree with Michelle because everyone knows what Trump did to those women. I wouldn't understand why women would vote for him after all that bubbled up to the top. If i was able to vote i know i wouldn't have voted for him. I think is important to know where Michelle stands on this because she was the last First Lady. I feel like women need to open up more and actually speak their mind and not just go with the pact.

Valerie Garcia- Tom Price Resigns

Tom Price resigned from being health secretary because he was using $51,887.31 of the tax payers money for his own travel cost. Trump brought in Price to help write a new health care bill to replace the Obama care. Trump does publicly point out that he is not happy with Price. He would take private charter flights when cheaper commercial flights were available. When Price was in office he was worried about making the tax payers spend more than they need to and not even acknowledging what he was doing.
This is signification because it shows that powerful people our using are hard earned money on things they don't need to use. when need to know what people are using our money on and way. That money could have gone to all the places the hurricanes have hit. I am glade he resigned but i fell like he needs to give us our money back.

Valerie Garcia- Las Vegas Shooting

On October 1st during a concert a 64 year old man opened fire on a strip of crowed people in Las Vegas. He was on the 32nd floor of  a Las Vegas hotel. They are calling it a "lone wolf" act and that he did it just to do it. They found 17 guns in the room and a semiautomatic guns to allow shooting. At least 59 people were killed and 527 injured. All of the injured were rushed to the hospital either buy the police or other people at the concert. It is the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S history.
Before this the deadliest mass shooting was the shooting at Orlando, Florida, killing 49 people. Honestly, I'm so sick of hearing about these shootings and bombings in the new. You would think after the first time something like this happened we would ban guns and not let it happen again. In my opinion i think we should ban guns because any person could buy a gun and do this again and again as we've seen. This 64 year old man was just an average person and even the guy at the gun store didn't see any red flags when selling the guns to him.  Then he goes and starts a mass shooting all by himself. I hope we can take away from this and start to make some changes.

mexico earthquake - Avery Vance

There was a huge earthquake in Mexico. It was a magnitude 6.1 earthquake and the epicenter was located 12 miles from El Barrio de la Soledad, Oaxaca, Mexico. It has destroyed much of the urban areas in Mexican cities.

This is clearly a tragedy, and in conjunction with the recent hurricanes, just feels like a kick in the teeth. If anyone would like to donate, the UNICEF link is below

Craig Fleming Current Events 1

Hurricane Maria has left the entire island of Puetro Rico destroyed. The whole island is without power and necessities and food supplies are depleting. There is also a curfew inforced, dawn to dusk, most likely to insure safety. Gas levels are low and of course no cell service. With the U.S being in control over of Puerto Rico, they sent thousands of troops to aid in repair. I think that this situation is a big issue for the developement of this country, and is the effects of the hurricane are so devastating because the country is so underdeveloped and technologically behind.

Earthquake in Mexico by Victoria Valdez

Mexico was hit last week with a deadly earthquake.  Mexico had pledged to send emergency aid to Texas after the destruction of Hurricane Harvey but after the earthquake they decided to pull those funds to help their own citizens affected by the devastation.  The earthquake killed 95 people in the states of Oaxaca, Chiapas and Tabasco.

www.cnn.com/2017/09/12/americas/mexico-pulls-texas-aid/index.html

I completely understand why Mexico pulled the aid that it was going to send in Texas.  The citizens of Mexico have been devastated by the recent earthquake and they must take care of their own now.

valerie garcia (2nd post)

in the last few weeks and days there have been two big hurricane in the south and east coast. in late August hurricane Harvey hit in south Texas and hurricane Irma hit in florida. They have both categorized as level fours leaving a whole bunch of damage behind. Together both of theses hurricanes equal up to the same cost of damage as hurricane Katrina. Hurricane Harvey cost $108 billion and Irma cost from $64 to $92 billion. Together they cost around $150 to $200 billion. Katrina costing $160 billion.
This is important because it shows that even with these level four hurricanes Katrina is still a big one for the books. We as a nation will have to take the time out to help rebuild all the damage that happened. we need everyone we can to help and send love and peace to all the people and places the hurricanes have hit and hurt. Disasters like these show us how together we can help one another.

China Censors Bomb Test Discussion by Victoria Valdez

China has chosen to censor any online discussions about the situation with North Korea.  Many bloggers have expressed their fears online.  Any content regarding nuclear weapons and North Korea are being removed from  the internet.  Even search terms such as "hydrogen bomb" have been removed.  Free speech is not a right afforded by Chinese  citizens.  What they say online is controlled by the government.

www.bbc.com/news/blogs-trending-41152784

It is a shame that concerned citizens of  China cannot speak  out  about the tense situation with North Korea.  They are very controlled within the country and have to live in the world that the government creates for them.

Trump Threatens DACA- Victoria Gonzalez

President Donald Trump threatens to permanently remove another key pillar to the foundation of the former presidency that was built by his predecessor, President Barack Obama. To clarify, the pillar I speak of is the DACA, or the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals. The DACA is a statement that claims that any underage/minor illegal immigrants have the right to work and have access to a renewable two-year period to stay within the country without being deported.
During a press conference shortly after Trump made these statements, no questions were answered about whether or not the president would consider changing this process or change the idea of continuing this at all. However, it is important to mention that this seems highly unlikely because the main source attempting to remove the DACA, besides Mr. Trump, is the State of Texas, which is currently having enough issues with the horrors and damage left behind from Hurricane Harvey. As of now, this is a tug of war from within both sides rather than between the two sides. Not surprisingly, this is seen from Mr. Trump as he's sworn to protect those who use the DACA program, such as college students, while also promising to have no mercy on illegal immigrants, including college students. Once again, the system here is only seen as black and white, but it makes it even more difficult to acknowledge that for almost all of the immigrants there is nothing but grey.

Valerie Garcia (1st post)

When North Korea set off its biggest nuclear bomb President Trump released a tweet saying, " stopping all trade with any country doing business with North Korea." This threat seemed to be clearly aiming at China, because they account for 90% of North Korea's international trade. China is also the U.S largest trading partner in goods. Supplying things vital for the American industry. Other countries would be thrown into chaos by this too because they work with China and the U.S for their things.

This is significant because if we were to stop trade with China it was leave the U.S into a depression. We are largely based off trading with them and then with us. This treat also shows China that we don't care who are allies are because we will just stop being allies. Donald Trump really needs to stop pasting in social media because it starts to send out the wrong message and just leaves everyone confused. I know this threat isn't gonna make its way through because China is way to big a trading partner to just stop.

School Dress Codes Being Reconsidered-Victoria Gonzalez

It is a well known fact that dress codes can be more than slightly irritating to parents, students and teachers. However, despite the fact that over the years it seemed petty and small it is growing into  an issue about the message it gives students about girls and their bodies. Catherine Pearlman, a mother of two, has become increasingly frustrated with the tight and rigid dress code that both belittles her daughters and gives students the wrong ideas about girls. One of her daughters, like many other children, is very tall. Due to this, it is increasingly difficult for her to find shorts that go past the finger tip length, and have resulted in numerous visits to the nurses office because of her "inappropriate attire".  Pearlman claimed, "I think there are these subtle messages that sort of carry on that we shouldn't show something. Why shouldn't we show something? Because something's wrong with our body," she said. "We need to be teaching the boys what appropriate behavior is instead of teaching the girls that they have to cover up to protect themselves from the boys." Which is true because our bodies are over sexualized as toys rather than people. It is not our responsibility to make sure that boys act like proper gentlemen and not thirsty little kids who get too distracted from our dry fit shorts to focus on their work.

Stabbing Occurs in Portland due to Islamophobia-Victoria Gonzalez

In Portland, Oregon on May 26, 2017 two young African-American women were attacked and almost stabbed by white supremacist Jeremy Joseph Christian. One woman was wearing a hijab, while another was not, however, both of them faced slurs such as, "Go home! We need Americans here!" After a couple of other passengers came forth and defended the two women, arguing broke out and eventually violence. Christian then threatened the men and even dared them to do something to make him stop. He then began stabbing people on the train numerous, and violent times causing serious chest and neck wounds. He was later arrested and taken into custody while the wounded men were taken to the hospital. Two men later died in the hospital, while one is in critical condition. The two women later thanked the men who stepped in and protected them and saved their lives. What bothers me about this goes beyond just this hatred and violence, in a CNN panel a spokesperson claimed the horror about this mental illness. Yet the issue at hand is not mental illness, it's hatred. When someone black, Latino or Middle-Eastern commits a horrifying crime it's considered evil, even a cultural trait or a personality characteristic. How is it when the same applies to someone who's white it is a mental illness instead?

Car Bombing

A car bombing located in Syria kills dozens of people. The car bombing killed up to 35 people, who were just trying to get home. A suicide attacker blew up his small pickup truck outside of a security office just 5 miles away from the people. How are people brave enough to be a suicide attacker. The thought on my mind is, "Are they chosen to commit the suicide?" but then I hear the word suicide and its like they don't want to live so they commit.

A man in Manchester unleashed a bomb at an Ariana Grande concert. The bomb was detonated outside after the concert and people were on their way out. Twenty-two people were killed and dozens were injured. Several people have been contained as suspects but the people of London are still shaken from the attack. Authorities believe he was backed by a large terrorism organization, but there is no sure answer for who is responsible. They found the bomb and are looking into where the parts came from to track down who is responsible. This tragic event is devastating. What I don't understand is why the bomb an Ariana Grande concert, which is most likely filled with teenagers, who don't deserve to die like this. Only a very sick person could commit a crime like this.

If you haven't yet realized, America has a big opioid problem. Opioids are drugs like pain killers. These drugs are legal and are prescribed by doctors. But that where the problem is. Often times doctors prescribe too many doses of the drug, and sometimes to people who don't always need them. This causes people to become addicted to the drugs, and the doctors keep giving patients more. More than 30,000 people die because of opioids addiction a year. Many people need rehab but don't go. In opinion, this drug problem is the doctors fault. If the doctors keep handing out drugs then the people are going to keep getting addicted to them. If we ban the drugs, people will just create a black market and continue to sell them. The government is going to have a difficult time fixing this issue.

In the South, many states are preparing to have a summer with a lot less peaches. In Georgia, only 25% of crops are being produced compared to previous years. In Sourh Carolina, about 80% of the crop is gone. The problem began in the winter, when many tree lost the vital cold temperatures needed to ensure plentiful fruit to drastically warmer weather. Then in March, a three day freeze devastated any crop that had begun to grow. The peach trade will be diminished because there won't be enough to send out to other states. The loss has also effected the economy because the peach industry brings thousands of jobs to farms and in Sourh Carolina bring in about $90 million a year.

In Kabul, Afghanistan, there was a bombing that killed nearly 80 people. The bomb was in a tuck and went off early in the morning during heavy traffic hours. It was placed in the center of the city where a lot of people are located. Several government buildings were also affected. No one is sure who is responsible for the attack, and the leader of the Taliban said they aren't responsible. They also aren't sure whether the bomb was intended to destroy the embassy in Afghanistan. The Taliban, however, is responsible for several similar attacks , and are at the moment seizing territories in cities close to Afghanistan. This is a sad story because of all the lives that were lost and the several hundred people that were injured.

Kate Boyer-Car Bombing Near the Afghan Capital

At approximately 8:30 a.m. in Kabul, Afghanistan, a car bomb was set off. Killing around 80 people and injuring more than 350, the casualties are still being counted. The target is undetermined and at this point, no group as stepped up to the plate to accept responsibility for the attack. The detonation of the bomb happened by Zanbaq Square. Details are still being worked out.
I turned on my phone this morning and saw my little NPR notification that told me something had happened. I listened to the recording of the news on my way to school and it shocked me. This is just another reminder about how the wars in Afghanistan are still going on. It's easy to forget that places outside our community are struggling severely. As the saying goes, "out of sight, out of mind," it's scary to think of what we don't realize is going on.

Kate Boyer- Man Plays Violin in the Middle of Violent Attack

The possibility of a rising dictatorship in Venezuela has sparked many protests. CNN explains the predicament,
"Venezuela has been in a state of widespread unrest since March 29, when the Venezuelan Supreme Court dissolved parliament and transferred all legislative powers to itself. Doing away with the opposition-controlled legislative branch would have left the remaining two branches of Venezuelan government controlled by President Nicolas Maduro's ruling United Socialist Party" (Pozzebon et al.).
The protests have resulted in 36 deaths and over 750 injured persons. In the midst of bombs and tear gas a man in Caracas, Venezuela played the violin. He was playing the Venezuelan National Anthem; a group of kids were surrounding him, serving as some sort of make-shift barrier. He played without stopping for hours. The week before, a different violinist was shot in the midst of a protest that took a violent turn. 18 year old Armando Cañizales was shot in the neck.
I think this is a tragically inspirational story. The bravery this man had and the risk of losing his life while playing his violin has immense symbolism. He should be a symbol of hope and peace amongst the utter chaos around him. When I first read this article, I immediately thought of WWII survivor, Elie Wiesel (pronounced ellie vi-sel) and his memoir, Night. In chapter 6, he wrote about a young man who played his violin for the Kapos.
"The darkness enveloped us. All I could hear was the violin, and it was as if Juliek's soul had become his bow. He was playing is life. His whole being was gliding over the strings. His unfulfilled hopes. His charred past, his extinguished future. He played that which he would never play again...When I awoke at daybreak, I saw Juliek facing me, hunched over, dead. Next to him lay his violin, trampled, an eerily poignant little corpse" (Wiesel 95).

Man Jumps Off Bridge

A man jumped off of a bridge early Friday morning and committed suicide. He was a deported man. There was a plastic bag with his belongs next to him. I just want to say that suicide is never the answer. its never the route to go. There are hotlines to call and people you can talk to. Even when you feel like no one is listening or there's no need to live anymore. There's always a reason for things and God is always there listening. The country is at fault of this accident. I send my condolences to the family of Mr. Olivas Valencia.

A boys mother went into target. She came back out and she saw a bag sitting on her windshield. She said that she immediately got into her car and drove off. Security cameras say they saw the man put the bag on the women's windshield and got in the passenger seat in the car beside. He was waiting for her to go over and take the bag off of the windshield, so that he could grab her from behind and kidnap her. This is really getting out of control.

Powerful Hurricane Matthew threatens Haiti, Jamaica, and Cuba. Hurricane Matthew moved across the Caribbean Sea slowly on Sunday. The storm had winds of 145 mph while moving northwest. A hurricane warning was given. Matthew is the most powerful Atlantic hurricanes in our recent history. It is classified as a category 5 hurricane.

The government opened 1,300 emergency shelter across the country in haiti, holding about 340,000 people. Alerts went out telling them to protect themselves and there homes. There were about 5,500 living on the base, including 61 men held at the detention center.

I feel as if this hurricane is dangerous, and that it is harmful. Therefore, people should be well prepared, with supplies.

Controversial Photo Stirs Trouble with the White House- Victoria Gonzalez Current Event

Kathy Griffin, a comedian, writer, actress, and TV host has been facing criticism and outbursts due to her participation in a controversial photo shoot with photographer, Tyler Shields. The photo showed Griffin holding a bloody mannequin head resembling US President, Donald Trump. After it was posted, it soon went viral, and people from both parties soon shared their distaste for the photo and how it could promote violence towards Trump. Griffin later asked for the photo to be removed and apologized for "crossing the line". Donald Trump Jr. called the photo "Disgusting but not surprising" and claimed that this is what Democrats consider acceptable. Meanwhile, from the other party, Chelsea Clinton said the photo was "vile and wrong" contradicting Donald Trump Jr's statement.

Kroger has now recalled all of its macadamia nuts from its shelves. The nuts are believed to have  been contaminated by a piece of equipment . The equipment had listeria, and was beloved to have contaminated the nuts too. However, an investigation showed that the nuts were negative for the disease, and no one has become ill. Russia has been developing a new bomb that will be the biggest of them all. The military says it will be the loathed lermabaric bomb in history. The bomb, FOAB, is said to explode at such high temperatures that anything in its area with be vaporizer immediately. It's not a nuclear bomb, but is still very powerful. This story can relate very closes to the Cold War between the US and Soviet Union. Although tensions have lessened, there still are bombs being made by both the US and SU, which can show that both teams are still developing weapons as if they were still on the war. Hopefully, neither side has to use them.

TEXAS IN TROUBLE WITH NEW TRUMP MEDICADE
WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump pledged on the campaign trail to leave Medicaid untouched. But in his first major budget proposal, the president has laid out a plan to reduce Medicaid spending by more than $600 billion over the next decade.
Coupled with the Obamacare overhaul House Republicans passed in May, which would reduce Medicaid spending by more than $830 billion over the same period, Texas could lose billions in coverage, with its neediest feeling the pain.
this article sacres me very much, as the health care system In America has been a bit shaky for many years before Trump, but now it's much much worse. It is very scary for people who pay for Medicare and those whomst receive it (myself) are in jeopardy. My parents have both voiced concerns for this scary situation, and it's really not good at all. This shouldn't be allowed and the fact we have an all republican house to back it up is very scary. People with disabilities deserve the same treatment as all: disgusting:

This is very infuriating. Nobody deserves to be bullied like this and especially a special needs kid. He was threatened to pull his pants down. Just imagine how humiliating that would be. If I were a judge and I had the option for these kids sentences they would get life in the most rough prison there possibly is on this planet.

Summary
An 18 year old man was shot and killed. He died from his very harsh and cruel injuries that were faced upon him. Three of his friends were also injured but they did not die from the injury that was laid upon them.

Analysis
This is such a sad story because the 18 year old guy that was killed was such a great guy from what his friends and family say. He was homecoming and prom king and was a star football wide receiver at carter high school. I truly hope that his killer(s) are found and put in prison for max sentence because because nobody deserves a death like this.

The parents of Corey Walgren are trying to sue his school district because of his suicide. They're going to sue because Corey was told that he would be going to jail for something he did. In worry that he would actually go, he killed himself.

I feel that in certain situations, people should not be put under pressure. It could lead to, like in this situation, death. People do need to understand that everyone is different and some people can't handle things like others can.

A mother killed three of her children purposely by driving her car into water. There were four kids in the car but only one survived. In court, the mother has pleaded guilty and now has to face at least 20 years in prison.

In the article, it was said that the mothers motives for the murders were not clear. So why did she do it? How could a mother do something like that? Especially to her children. Now she may have had some kind of mental, personal issues going on but they can be resolved in some way. I give condolences to the remaining members of the family and good the remaining child can be strong enough to handle what happened mentally.

I really do hope that more security measures are taken to ensure the safety of many others. Even tho security may be tight as it is now, we can never be too safe. I feel really bad for the person who died and hope everyone who was there is ok. I don't know how things are done to train animals but we all must remember that vicious animals like lions aren't made for the wild. I feel like things like this should really be tested more. Every small aspect should be considered when it comes to the safety of people. Some of this may have been the parents fault also, though. Things to be thought about are is this really safe for my child? Not saying I don't care about the little boy but I do hope this to be a lesson for some. This video was probably released to keep people aware of safety hazards around us.

At an ice cream shop in central Baghdad, at least 10 people were killed and 40 wounded in a car bomb explosion. The bomb when off when families were gathered to break their daily fast as part of Islams holy month of Ramadan. A video captured shows various body parts and tremendous amounts of  blood scattered everywhere. The attack was targeted by ISIS.

Many people have different thoughts about this. Personally, my thoughts are why is there so much violence in this world? There's always something that could set violence off whether it be small or big. I truly do want it all to end but honestly I don't think it ever will. There are so many evil people and corrupted minds that there will never be the desired peace that most of us long to see. This article was probably written for all of the public to let them know that things need to change.

Leaders from the world's major industrialized nations began talks on Friday at a G7 summit in Sicily which is expected to expose deep divisions with U.S. President Donald Trump over trade and climate change.

Asia Moves Toward LGBT+ Rights - Mila Fisher

Taiwan's highest court has voiced it's support for same-sex marriage. The court gave Taiwan two years to achieve this, which could be done by amending current laws, or passing new legislation. The court has stated that the laws existing currently that prevent same-sex marriage are unconstitutional and violated equality. In a press release, the court stated the following:
"disallowing two persons of the same sex to marry, for the sake of safeguarding basic ethical orders" constituted a "different treatment" with "no rational basis."
If they achieve this milestone, Taiwan will become the first Asian state to legalize same-sex marriage. I'm really excited about this, it could very well inspire the rest of Asia, which could inspire other countries, and so on and so forth.

Old Cold War sentiments are resurfacing, with eyes pointed to Russia, even though the country is quite capitalist these days. Recently, there was a bill presented to remove a part of the California Code that prevents Communist Party members from taking government office. Travis Allen, a republican from South California, is against this move, and took the floor to prove it, saying,

“To allow subversives and avowed communists to now work for the state of California,” he railed, “is a direct insult to the people of California who pay for that government.”

This aspect of the code is in place in several other states also. On the other side of things, the bill's sponsor, Democratic assemblyman Rob Bonta, announced last week that he would not push forward with the bill.

“I’ve been called a commie. I’ve been told to go back to China. I’ve had death threats,” Bonta told the Guardian. He described as “ironic and curious” the fact that one of his Republican opponents was “wrapping himself in the flag” while “supporting a law that blatantly violates our first amendment rights”, but said he respected the emotions that the issue had raised for refugees from communist regimes.

These type of bouts have been going on for quite a while. It's an ongoing debate whether or not to allow communists to have a place in the government. Both sides have valid and important arguments, so there really isn't a "right side", as is in many political situations. I personally see the health and harm in both outcomes, so I find it challenging to take a side.

A 14-year-old Girl Needlessly Loses Her Leg by Victoria Valdez

There is a health crisis in Venezula and it is hard for people to be treated for illnesses.  A 14-year-old girls needlessly lost her leg because she could not receive early treatment to prevent her cancer from spreading.  There is a huge shortage of medical supplies and medicine.  Doctors had to remove her leg in an effort to save her life.

It is so sad that this young girl lost her leg because she could not receive proper medical treatment. We are so lucky to live in the United States where we can receive medicine and medical treatments when we get sick.

Ebola Outbreak in Congo by Victoria Valdez

It has been confirmed that 3 people have died from Ebola in the Democratic Republic of Congo.  It all started when a 45-year-old man became sick and got in a taxi to go to the hospital.  The taxi driver and the person that cared for the man in the hospital have both died.  There are several other cases that are being looked at to see if there is a relation.

http://www.cnn.com/2017/05/14/health/ebola-outbreak-congo-drc/index.html

An Ebola outbreak is scary and can get out of hand very quickly and it is imperative that they get patients sequestered.  This disease kills so quickly and out of blue that it is scary and can lead to hundreds or thousands of death starting with just one person contracting it.  It is my hope that they find a cure for this illness.

Meningitis May Be the Cause of Sickness in Liberia by Victoria Valdez

It is believed that meningitis is behind a mystery illness in Liberia that has sickened over 30 people and has killed 13 of them.  This illness started after several individuals attended the funeral of a religious leader.  An 11-year-old child was the first one that got sick and died within an hour after being admitted to the hospital.  Several more from the funeral got sick and died.  Other diseases have been ruled out so far and they are looking to confirm that meningitis is to blame.

This is so sad that people can get sick so suddenly and die.  Seemingly healthy people get sick and die hours later.  Hopefully, they will find the cause of this illness so they can treat it effectively.

Sweden Drops Charges Against Julian Assange by Victoria Valdez

Sweden has dropped raped charges against WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange.  Assange has claimed asylum in the Ecuadorian Embassy for years.  If he leaves, he faces being arrested by Britain and being extradited to the United States for prosecution for leaking classified information.

Julian Assange has become an internet sensation for leaking classified government documents.  I had no idea that he had been seeking asylum for rape charges.  All this is very interesting.  However, his children have to grow up without him...that's so sad.

Chibok Schoolgirls Released by Victoria Valdez

Eighty two Chibok schoolgirls were recently released by Boko Haram.   These schoolgirls were kidnapped in the middle of the night in 2014 while they were at boarding school.  The girls were in good physical condition with minimal injuries.  The Nigerian government released top Boko Haram officials in exchange for the schoolgirls.  There are over 100 still in captivity.

It is so sad that these girls were kidnapped and were not released for 3 years.  I can only imagine what happened to them and how they were treated by their captors.  I am grateful that they can start their road to recovery.

5/22/17 Bomb in Manchester Theresa Dvorocsik

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/05/22/manchester-attack-latest-detectives-hunt-terror-network/

A bomb has gone off at Ariana Grande's concert and nobody knows yet who it is who why. This is very scary to me because she just had a concert Dallas and it so freaky to think about this. I bet this is ISIS, but why would they target a concert filled with mostly young girls? I hope everybody is okay!

Ruined Experience - Alex Travell

http://www.cnn.com/2017/05/22/europe/manchester-arena-incident/index.html

On Monday, nineteen people were killed at an Ariana Grande performance held at Manchester Arena in England. There were two explosions, and smoke spread throughout the corridors. The crowd consisted of young people. A witness said he heard one explosion at the end of the concert, and he said there was smoke in the main corridor.

I personally feel like you can't go or do anything these days without worrying about threats. The fact that these young children were simply trying to enjoy a concert, until someone ruins the experience by setting off two bombs. Hopefully this violence ceases soon.

extinction-be-gone (TM) by juliet stowe

we have been taught that extinction, much like the death associated with it, is permanent. But a recent research shows that may not be true. With our modern advances in science species can be brought back from extinction and even thrive in the world. Now that this feat is no longer only in movies and poorly thought out graphic novels, its raising some eyebrows. While may scientists think this is a wonderful opportunity to re-introduce species into the ecosystem, other claim that this will disrupt the balance of nature.

this is super super important because i mean, we can now bring back extinct species. How would this not be an important world-wide break though. Just imagine, taking a nice stroll with your family, when all of a sudden you spot some lady walking her Dodo Bird. you don't fins this strange. Not one bit, you know why? because the dodo came back into existence years ago, all thanks to science. My case rests.

bella macey current event

After the Cold War a law in Washington was passed that any sort of immediate evacuation planning for a nuclear attack is not allowed. What's worse is that it is one of the 5 states that is supposed to be hit by North Korea. Because the state isn't having officials prepare for an immediate and possible attack, they're screwed.
That sucks that they have a law that is restricting them from creating a weapon that could potentially protect people. Hopefully Washington isn't a state they are actually choosing to be attacked.

space babies by juliet

In a recent experiment to see if mammals could reproduce in space, scientists have found success. 73 healthy baby mice were born outside of earths atmosphere, making this experiment not only the first of its kind, but also a very important stepping stone to life outside of earth. The offspring seem to be entirely healthy, even having several advantages over their earth-bound counterparts. This expedition also confirmed that frozen sperm, as well as other preserved genetic matter, can survive the conditions aboard a spaceship.

This is very very important because this now proves that if we so desired we could live life outside of earth. Lets face it, Earth is not in the best condition, we as a species have been reckless and inconsiderate towards our environment, and because of this the planet is dying. This is our chance to start a new. With more advances, and a better understanding of space conditions, the humans could take to the stars and colonize among a new planet.

Terror attack at Manchester by juliet

Tonight at an Ariana Grande concert a bomb went off. Video shows the explosion went off right after the show was ending, thousands flooded the exits while screaming in terror. Authorities tried to control the crowd, but over 50 were injured in the bombing and the stampede that followed. Police seem to be treating the attack as one by a terrorist. 19 lives were lost in Manchester.

This is important because now people feel as if there is nowhere they are safe from attacks such as this. Ariana Grande is a singer loved by all ages. Children were at that show. This seems like it is another brick in the ever elongating wall of violence and organized crime.

exercise pill effects by; Juliet

Mice are given enormous amounts of energy after taking experimental "exercise pill". these lab rats have gone almost there entire lives with 0 activity suddenly sprang to life. this drug activates the gene trigger when you exercise. Once this drug is perfected it will be able to allow people to exercise for long periods of time without tiring. there is still a lot of work done to finish this drug and make it fit for humans, but scientists are optimistic.

this holds significance because this new medical advancement could be used for so many practical purposes. It could benefit for people fighting in war zones so they can run longer. It can be used for people going on space missions to chase away the fatigue that comes with the physically challenging task that is space travel. The possibilities are endless, and this will be a step forwards for mankind.

Liza Kaye: bombing in manchester at Ariana Grande concert

https://www.nytimes.com/2017/05/22/world/europe/ariana-grande-manchester-police.html?_r=0

On May 22nd, 2017 a what seems to be a terrorist attack occurred in Manchester, England. The American pop singer, Ariana Grande, had just sung her last song of the night when people reported hearing two loud noises, later on known to be bombs. At least 19 people were killed, leaving 50 others wounded. This all took place at Manchester Arena. It is known to be the deadliest attack of terrorism since the London subway bombings in 2005. The Manchester Victoria train station canceled all trains, leaving many families with fear and no transportation available. Several children were seen with blood on their clothing, and separated from their parents.

This is similar to the November, 2015 Paris terrorist attacks. Three suicide bombers killed 130 people in a northern suburb of paris. This just exemplifies that ISIS has not diminished in recent years, and that foreign relations are still not peaceful, and very violent.
