Fake 100$ Bill at Walmart by Corran Nolan

In Michigan, mother Leann Ward used her Bridge Card at Walmart to get 100$ from state assistance, then went to Menards, a store next door to the Walmart. At the store, she tried to use the 100 dollar bill she received from the Walmart to pay for, only to have the cashier return it and inform her it was a fake. She went back to the Walmart to inform them of the fake bill, and the manager came out, looked at the bill for a few seconds, then returned it to her saying that there was nothing he could do since she had left the store. "My family can scrape along for a few weeks," she says, "but i just want people to know there are fake bills in circulation."
This is important because it is proof that under the ignorance of some people, counterfeiting and the circulation of fake bills has become a real problem. Though this has only been one reported case, Leann said "It could have fooled anybody. It was good, whoever did this is good," and says she is sure it will happen more. Though it may seem like this is a small problem, it can become much bigger if people keep being unaware, uninformed, and just plain dumb.

  1. This could be the start of something awful. If people continue to manufacture fake money that innocent people can get a hold of, everybody is going to get scammed!

  2. I'm curious as to why her leaving the store had anything to do with why they couldn't do anything about it. Shouldn't there be some kind of reinforcement to make sure that she and her family are alright?
