Many had been inside the Reigners Bible Church International in Uyo, (a southern city) Nigeria, for the religious blessing of the founder, Alan Weeks, to the position of bishop, when the roof collapsed. Worshippers claimed that the construction of the Church was rushed. "There were trapped bodies, parts of bodies, blood all over the place and people's handbags and shoes scattered," said Ukeme Eyibio, a witness who saw the scene. Eyibio was outside making a phone call when he heard the crash. He and three others helped a man whose legs were stuck under a girder by using his tire jack while waiting for a crane to come pick up the rubble. "We managed to get him out, but we saw others dying all around us," he added. "I'm so traumatized I could not sleep last night for the horrors repeating themselves in my mind." Officials say at least 160 died, and feared the death toll could rise.

interesting about what other churches do.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if there was a reason the roof collapsed. Was the building very unsturdy? Why did this terrible thing happen?
