Amidst dancing and singing at the Reigners Bible Church in the Nigerian city of Uyo, the building suddenly disintegrated during Saturday service causing the death of about 50 worshipers. Cranes lifted the steal covering bodies of those deceased and those injured. The church was crowded with many locals that day, including the governor himself, which is a speculated reason for the collapse. However, another factor is to blame; the construction of the church. With that being said, the governor had the contractor who held responsibility of the project, arrested immediately.
I'm sorry for those effected by this tragic event and I hope that their families can find peace after such a tragedy. However, I admire the way this community is supportive of one another. The state government stated that they will be paying the medical bills for those hospitalized and are working hard to find an exact reason behind the destruction of the church. In unfortunate circumstances, it's good to be positive. Although people died unexpectedly, they died in a loving environment in which they could worship their god.
