Last weekend, Eric Schmitt-Matzen received a call saying that a five year-old boy on the verge of dying wanted to see Santa Claus. Schmitt-Matzen made it to the hospital in less than 15 minutes to greet the boy. They had a brief conversation about dying and that Santa was sure that he would make it to Heaven. After asking for help, the little boy died in Santa's arms. After this happening, Schmitt-Matzen considered putting away his red suit for the year, but then realized that it gave him a purpose and he was happy to be a part of the little boy's last moment on Earth.
