Baby Pandas
Newborn pandas at the Atlanta zoo reach their 100 day old mark and receive their names. These baby pandas were name Xi Lun and Ya Lun which means "happiness" and "elegant." It is Chinese tradition that you celebrate a baby reaching their 100th day of being alive because it means they have survived the fragility of infancy. The Atlanta Zoo is one of four zoos in the U.S. to be receiving loans from China. This collaboration is helping boost the long-endangered panda population. The giant pandas have upgraded from endangered to know vulnerable, and the population is still increasing.
