nation wide blackout strikes Bangladesh
by Adrianna Martinez

Tens of millions of people nationwide are left without electricity as a result of a huge power cut in Bangladesh. The blackout hit the entire country, because of a failure of a line that imports power from India. Shops were forced to close and  hospitals had to rely on back up generators to keep providing emergency services. Power came back around 11p.m. on Saturday. A team of 8 people has been set up to investigate what caused the failure of the line. This is the first time the country has experienced a major blackout sine 2007 when a cyclone occurred.

The country should find another source to import electricity so another nationwide blackout does not occur. If the blackouts continue to happen shops will lose more money because they are forced to close. Also if the back up generators at hospitals stop working it could cause widespread panic and people could get seriously hurt.

  1. This is really sad. I really hope and pray that no serious damage happened in the blackout.
