A tiny museum in Mallawi, Egypt, was attacked by hundreds of armed men on August 14th, 2013. The attackers remain unknown and are still not captivated, but the walls of the demolished museum are covered in pro-Morsi graffiti. Mohamed Morsi was democratically elected and replaced Hosni Mubarak, the previous dictator and fourth president of Egypt. However, the Egyptian military overthrew Morsi because of widespread protests. This location had nothing to do with the actual ousting of the president, but it was attacked merely out of anger from Morsi supporters. People are upset; however, because the artifacts that were stolen or destroyed were very important to them.
The attackers did not target this museum for a specific reason, but their anger was fueled from the army overthrowing the president, and they needed something to attack. This would be equivalent to the army overthrowing President Obama and citizens being angry to the point where they demolished a museum in the United States. This event showcases the fact that some people hold political grudges and feel that they must take action, and it eventually results in violence.

i dont think its so much like what you said, with the overthrowing obama, its a little more like we had over thrown bush and replaced him with oBama and the people attacked the library with Pro-Bush graffiti but i still think you have a really good point
ReplyDeleteInstead of ruining their own country's property, these people should have just started a protest themselves! They also had no reason to steal anything. If they were trying to make a point the graffiti was enough. These people better be praying for forgiveness.
