In 2008 Peggielene Bartels went to bed one night after her job as a secretary from Washington D.C. but when she was surprised to find out that night was that she was a king of Otuam, afishing village of about 7,000 people in Ghana. Her Uncle was the previous king of Otuam and had just dies. The Village elders, who remembered Barteles when she has visited there with her mother, decided to anoint her as King of their land. Barteles went from being Peggielene Bartels who worked at the Ghanaian Embassy in the U.S. to King Peggy, the first female king of Otuam. She still works in the Ghanaian Embassy she just goes to Otuam every holiday chance she can . King Peggy was born in Takoradi, southern Ghana, in 1953 she studied in England before moving to the U.S. Where she became a American Citizen in 1997. She has been living two very different lives. One has a secretary in Washington where she does everything for herself in her little apartment and also has a king where she lives in a palace with gold crows and where she is pampered everyday.
