Ol Pejeta Conservancy is a game reserve home to much endangered wildlife, including white and black rhinos. The animals are guarded, but poachers still come to kill the rhinos and take their horns, which are worth a lot of money around the world. To save the rhinos, the game reserve is putting into effect unmanned planes that can survey the wildlife from above and give immediate notifications when a poacher has entered the premises. I am so glad that they have thought of a good way to keep these precious animals safe!
Hopefully this will work. The animals don't stand much of a chance against high powered rifles. They can use the help.
ReplyDeleteThat is awful how poachers could just kill animals. I read something last week about elephants being killed, and I just can't believe that someone would just kill a part of our wildlife. I know that people eat animals for meat, but for just taking a part of them just for money is just horrible. I am glad that something is being done because once rhinos become extinct, there will be nothing we can do about it.
ReplyDeleteIt is heartwarming to know that there are people out there who care about endangered species and also want to protect them from stupid poachers who kill them just for a small fraction of their bodies.
