An anti-Islam film was uploaded to YouTube and was accused of causing riots across the world. "Judge Hassouna Tawfiq ordered YouTube blocked for carrying the film, which he
described as 'offensive to Islam and the Prophet (Muhammad).'" Because of this video, 50 people died in over 20 different countries. After denying requests for the video to be taken down, YouTube blocked the video in certain countries. Because YouTube refused to remove the video, the Egyptian is considering suing Google for allowing offensive, life-threatening material to continue to be shown to the public.
I hope this case can be resolved to where both sides of the story ending up satisfied. Taking away YouTube, and maybe even Google, would almost be like cutting Egypt and all the other countries associated off from the rest of the world.

I don't understand why youTube didn't take down the video especially if it put people in danger.
ReplyDeleteI agree with addie if it people in danger they should take it down.
ReplyDeleteWhy would someone upload something so offensive in the first place anyways? It cost 50 people their lives, and for that something should be done about it.
ReplyDeleteIf a video tampers with people's safety, they should take it down. They must suffer the consequences.
ReplyDeleteI think youtube has done enough. I mean, there are anti-Christian and neo-nazi videos up and not many people care enough to do any thing much about it. People were hurt int this case, but one can only block so much of the media.
