3 Sailors Kidnapped by Pirates by Elaine Hennig

A ship was attacked by pirates off the coast of Nigeria and Cameroon. Three sailors were kidnapped (including two Russians). The pirates boarded the ship, which was owned by Carisbrooke shipping, and stole the sailors' belongings before kidnapping three of them. The Gulf of Guinea had become increasingly dangerous. The piracy has spread beyond Nigeria, and the crimes committed have become worse. Another incident occurred last week in which a French ship was seized and the 17 sailors on board were kidnapped.

This article may serve as a warning to companies who have ships in the Gulf of Guinea. Any ship there could become a target for pirates, so security in the gulf should be increased. Sailors should be very careful and know that piracy is a real issue. Hopefully something will be done to combat the pirates so something like this won't happen again.

  4. Pirates attack people/sailors all of the time, only a small percentage is waved around the media.

  5. Why aren't pirates addressed in the media more often? It sounds like a frightening issue that needs to be addressed by the Coast Guard.

  7. I hope they find out how to stop all this from happening. It is so scary to think they can come out of no where.
