Bolt Up For Male Athlete of the Year! By Kendall Ray

It's official! Bolt the Sprint King has been named one of the three nominees for male athlete of the year. Bolt has had an incredible time at the Olympic Games by being practically unstoppable (no pun intended). The 26-year-old Jamaican is also the fastest man in the world (literally)! And now a best athlete nomination? I know I would be happy if I was Bolt!
The other two contenders do not go without mention, either. The first of the two's name is Aries Merritt, he is American and 27 years old. This year at the Olympics, Merritt took home the gold medal in 110 meter hurdles. The other man's name is David Rushida, a Kenyan who won the gold medal in 800 meter run, breaking the world record (also set by him) in the process. At 23 years old, he is the youngest out of the three.
Bolt is definitely the favorite of the nominees and most speculate that he will win the award. Congrats to all those fine athletes!

Jamaica's Usain Bolt was peerless at the London Olympics, taking gold in all three of his sprint eventsAbove Bolt is pictures at the games in London this past summer.

  1. What a great last name for a sprinter. His first name should be Lightning.

  4. I agree Elvira! And Hannah, right?!! I kind of wish my last name was Bolt, but I guess my parents thought that Kendall Bolt didn't really flow. Silly parents, what do they know?! Haha, but on a more serious note, I do congratulate the guy on his nomination.
