Human statue By: Adrienne Healy

17 year old Seanie Nammock has been diagnosed with the rare disease FOP. This condition causes her muscles and tendons to harden and turn into bone when lightly tapped or touched. Nammock was diagnosed at age 12 when suffering a minor trampoline incident. Doctors were baffled to find the this your girl had a desise that has only affected 600 people in the world. Her arms have been completely locked up not allowing her to move her arms from her waist. Seanie has to face everyday with the fear of falling or being bummed into and turning into a complete statue.

What a poor girl. With such a rare Disease and no diagnosis I can't imagine how hard it is to live day by day not knowing if this is the last day you will be able to walk on your own or dance to some music. Props to her for not allowing this to stop her from living her life the way she attends.

  2. She's so brave to still be going out into the public, when she could be turned into a human statue in moments. I'd be too afraid and would probably just want to hide at home all the time.

  3. Does she go to school, or is she homeschooled? I would be terrified and nervous to be around people. She is very brave.

  4. If she gets touched/bumped, that part of her becomes frozen, correct? Reminds me a lot of the Midas Touch story. Perhaps that old myth was based off of a true event that they couldnt explain.

    1. That would make sense, because myths are used to explain nature.

  5. That is awful that she has to live her whole life in fear of never being able to move again. Just one wrong step and she could be completely paralyzed.

  6. I can't believe such a disease exists. I really hope doctors start to find out more about this disease as it could expand. Just imagine what it would be like if this was a common sickness.
