Obama Decides to Use MIlitary Force After the Syrian Chemical Attack by Arianna Cadeddu

Very recently a serious chemical attack by Syria, killing approximately 1,400 people, has lead President Obama to decide to use military force against this foreign nation. "After careful deliberation, I have decided that the U.S. should take military action against Syrian regime targets." As well, the president carefully stated, no soldiers boots will be on the ground, action will be taken by cruise-missile-carrying warships.

The president also decided that action will not be taken until his plan is approved by "the American people's representatives in Congress." However, it has been stated that Obama believes he still has the legal authority to enforce his plan if Congress disapproves.

Many people are against the presidents belief to return the attack, it was said the the protestors could be heard from the opposite side of the White House during Obama's speech. My opinion on this is that while seeking vengeance-rightfully-it would be in America's best interest to avoid any possible wars, seeing to the fact that many have occurred in the past century. However, this hostile act should not go unnoticed. Action should be taken-action that will not lead to the possibility of more U.S. troops dying. In my opinion, in this case, caution should be taken. American's lives should not be risked.

  1. I agree with you. They cannot just ignore it. Something needs to be done and they need to be aware.

  3. I think its a problem not only over this but if problems ever escalate with us and other countries. I mean, if we choose to ignore this, it would be hypocritical to act on anything else dealing with other countries, such as north and south korea's conflicts. But obama is really trying not to involve troops on ground.

    1. I agree, if the United States (and the rest of the world) ignores this major incident, which has killed many people, then it shows the whole United States being indifferent to things of such magnitude, and if we help another country in the future, it will make us appear bias as if we were picking favorites.
