Saturday,
September 15, 2012 Adel Daoud was arrested for an attempted terrorist attack.
The 18-year-old in October was sending e-mails about terrorist attacks and
harming citizens. By May, FBI undercover agents began specking with Daoud, and
Daoud began looking for products for an attack. Daoud met with many undercover
agents, one who supplied Daoud for the attack. Friday, September 14 the
undercover agent and Daoud met then made their way into Chicago. With a car
bomb, the operation was to explode the car in front of a bar. When they arrived
Daoud parked the car in front of the bar, and he then went to a close alley.
There he tried to set off the car bomb, but the undercover agent arrested him.
Daoud was charged with the effort to use a weapon for mass destruction, and if
he is convicted he could serve a life in prison. He was also charged with
trying to demolish/damage a structure with the use of explosives, this charge
being 20 years in prison.
This
article was written for the public. The audience could be for anyone, but it
seems that it would be mostly beneficial to the people living in Chicago.
Though, it is important for anyone to be aware of what is going on in the
world, even if it is not nearby. This article is important because it has
informed many people about what is going on. Also, there have been bomb threats
at two universities around the same time of this attempted attack. Being aware
of these things are very important because they keep yourself and others safe.
