France plane has near miss with volcano
by Adrianna Martinez

An air France passenger jet had a near miss with an  active volcano in Africa. French aviation authorities are investigating this incident. The plane was carrying 37 people while on a short journey from equatorial Guinea to Cameroon on May 2. The plane steered off its course to avoid thunderstorms. The plane began to turn backward toward its destination, the city of Doula, Cameroon, when it got too close to Mount Cameroon. The "pull up" alarm started sounding and the pilots responded by ascending from 9,000 feet to 13,000 feet, the BEA said. The alarm stopped and the flight went on to land in Douala.

This incident is very frightening. I'm glad the plane landed safely and was able to avoid the volcano. Also this could have became  a tragic incident, but since the pilots were prepared and knew what to do they were able to land the plane safely.
