criminals steal tax returns. Sharon Cordon 4th period

A group of people have accessed the tax returns of more than 100,000 people in the united states. this is how researchers think the group of people accessed to it, crimanals used personal date from websites they hacked. even after the internal revenue service was altered from unauthorized accesses from the websites to other people's accounts in march. the criminals had set up fake tax returns and filed for tax returns; more than 200,000 had attempted to do the same crime scene and many succeeded to this task. criminals had set up a fake account using the criminals actual security number and disguising it with a fake address, they filed a fake tax return in order to claim a tax refund, the IRS had sent letters tot he taxpayers whos accounts were compromised, they offered free credit.
i think they should increase the security in the IRS and they should take every threat or warning very serious, also i think they should be a little bit more giving to all those people who the criminals stole from, because after all it was their fault.

  1. It's definitely an issue that's been common lately, even among people I know, because of the lack of security. Thankfully, it can be fixed whenever strange transactions like this are noticed by a higher authority.
