Migrant Lives Lost at Sea by Victoria Valdez

Seventy-four bodies of migrants have washed ashore on coast.  The bodies are African men who were trying to cross into Europe.  They were on a boat that had capsized although it in unclear when this happened.  Many refugees drown in the Mediterranean every year.  Last year was the deadliest for migrants, there were 5,082 lives lost in 2016.

It is devastating that these individuals felt that in order to have a better life that they had to risk their lives crossing the ocean.  There are so many lives lost and I'm sure they leave families and children behind in search of prosperity.

  1. Sadly, this has been going on for centuries. It's truly disheartening to see that people need to leave their home in search of better living conditions, and even risk their lives to do so.
