Prosecutors are now seeking the death penalty for Lee Joon-seok, captian of a ferry that sunk off the coast of south korea in april. 294 people died including hundreds of high school students on a field trip, none of the crew members said that the ship was sinking. The death penalty hasn't been carried out in 17 years. the Judges have not yet issued a verdict.

I think that he he is responsible for all of the deaths because he was aware of what was going on and he didn't tell the passengers he was responsible for. since the death penalty has not been used in so long and it might be a problem to bring it back i think a good alternate punishment would be life in prison.

  1. I agree it is his fault the passengers didn't even have the chance to see if they could save themselves this is a really sad story

  2. I'm not sure about how South Korea works, but one issue with the death penalty is the fact that a life is being taken and an issue with life in prison is that it would be the tax payers supporting an individuals life. I believe there should be more research to see why the passengers weren't notified of what was happening.
