http://www.cnn.com/2014/10/26/us/washington-school-shooting/index.html

Last week, a high school freshman, Jaylen Fryberg, opened fire at a school cafeteria at Marysville-Pilchuck High school, Washington. It's unknown how many shots were fired. Two boys and two girls were injured, and the death of a female student, Zoe Galasso. Those who were injured are in intensive care in Seattle and Everett. Among those were even part of Fryberg's family; Andrew Fryberg and Nate Hatch are in critical condition and all three are cousins. The last shot fired was of Jaylen Fryberg to end his own life. All families are shocked and especially those who were friends with Jaylen. Each told authorities that Jaylen was a kind and popular student who was even voted homecoming prince. None of them know what exactly sparked his sudden behavior.

According to CNN, there has been close to 74 shootings in the United States within this 18 months. Based on this article, readers are given an in-depth account of the effects of school shootings among family members, friends, even witnesses. It seems that lock-down drills and security cameras are not enough. It's about time that school districts determine an effective way to minimize school shootings each year.

  1. I can't believe things like this are still happening. I wonder how many school shootings the news hasn't been reporting. Obviously something more drastic needs to be done.

  2. That's a lot of shootings, but I still feel like it's been a while since we've heard about one. Hopefully some more efficient precautions can be taken.

  3. I agree with Savannah I don't understand why things like schools shootings are still happening and are being reported. If school is known as the safest place for a child to be other than home we need to know about these things
