A 6.2 magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Japan early Tuesday morning (Japan local time). At about 5.6 miles below sea level, the quake was 342 miles north-northeast of Tokyo and 60 miles east-northeast of Miyako, one of the areas devastated by the 2011 earthquake and tsunami. No tsunami warnings or advisories were issued by The Japan Meteorological Agency or the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center. Shortly after the first earthquake, a second tremor started 23.6 miles below sea lever in almost the same place. This second quake registered a 5.1 on the Richter scale.
This article was written for the general public by the CNN Wire Staff to keep people up to date. The reader is left with a negative impact because the Japanese have suffered enough after last year's tragedy.
