China, Vietnam, and Phillipines collide by Katelyn McLane

These three countries have had rising tensions, especially after recent potentially explosive confrontations in disputed territory in the East China Sea. A full-fledged war will most likely not happen, but it looks like more violence will occur between the countries. The situation is more serious with Vietnam than with the Philippines. China believes its claim on the disputed territory is quite strong and will do much to fight for it. China has even begun stationing military ships around the disputed island.

I think countries make such a big fuss over such little things. Yes, this island is meaningful and would be nice for any of these three countries to own, but I think many countries take the competition too far and should learn to give up what they realize isn't crucial to their survival. For example, China is so powerful already, that they really don't need more land in other areas. I suppose this isn't the logic of politics, but I still think they should at least try to not make so many enemies.
