Great Barrier Reef by Zoey Crummey

Recently, Australia has made plans to "expand a port and dump millions of dredged sediment" in the Great Barrier Reef. The UN did not approve of this and is threatening to make Great Barrier Reef an endangered area to protect it from the dumping. Experts on the matter are stating that this much dumping of soil (3 million tons) could severely damage the reef, which has already lost great amounts of coral due to farming and industrializing.

This is so sad to me. I really wish that the people of Australia would realize how harmful this is to their country! The Great Barrier Reef should be preserved, it's a truly incredible site and we need to treat it right. I'm very glad that the UN is trying to step in and prevent this though.

  1. Agreed! It could disappear soon and all Australia is doing is speeding up the process! Listen to the UN Australia.

  2. I also agree! How can people still harm nature so much even though we've seen how bad it is now? It is because of these kind of people that our world is in such a state and getting even worse!
