DISD replacing some school busses with taxis and shuttles Tatiana Caballero

DISD money saving moved nearly backfired. Several of kids were getting picked up on the first day of school by strangers in a taxi or shuttle. Parents were furious. Many of them didn't let their kid go in the car simply because the driver wasn't in uniform. Some parents didn't even find out about this move till a few days before school started. However this move only applied to students who travel a long way to attend magnet and vanguard schools.

If I had to go in a taxi everyday to school  I would be so scared. I wouldn't know the driver and what if it's just me and the driver in the car? In busses if anything goes wrong there are other kids in there with me to witness anything. Also on a bus you have the same driver everyday and you have the same kids riding with you everyday. What if a different driver picks you up? You hear crazy stuff on the news each day talking about murder, rape, and kid napping what if that happened to you one day? http://www.myfoxdfw.com/story/23275723/disd-replaces-some-buses-with-taxis-and-shuttles

  1. I agree with you! I would hate getting in a car with only me and a stranger! Anything could happen!

  2. I think it would be terrifying as well! I would feel more comfortable if I had a sibling or a friend with me. I agree that this seems unsafe, and I would definitely be more comfortable riding the bus!

  3. I would be so afraid to ride a taxi to school everyday! Just as you said, you don"t know what the driver is capable of doing, especially if you were in the car by yourself.
