South African Olympic Athlete is Charged of Murder - Lysette Barrera



Oscar Pistorious, a South African olympic athlete, was charged with murder after the fatal shooting of his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp, on valentine's day. His family "strongly refutes" upgrading charges against him to premeditated murder, as he would get a life sentence in prison. 

Pistorious is grief-stricken by his girlfriend's death, according to his uncle. His family says that he and Steenkamp were very close since they started dating. The death of the 29-year old model and the arrest of the athlete shocked South Africa. Steenkamp was shot 4 times with a 9mm pistol. Pistorious was known as "Blade Runner" because of his high-tech prosthetic limbs.

    It's amazing that he's in the olympics with prosthetic limbs. Do they know if he did it yet? It would be awful if he did. It would also ruin his olympic career.
