Emoticon in space by Londyn Alexander

http://www.cnn.com/2015/02/10/tech/space-smiley-face/index.html

The galaxy cluster known as  SDSS J1038+4849 looks like a smiling emoji.  The joyous expression was caught by a women, Judy Schmidt, who entered this photo into the Hubble's Hidden treasures competition. Explained to us by Hubble's scientist, the eyes are actually two distant galaxies, leaving the smile to be " Strong gravitational lensing." While the ring is called " Eistein's ring," put all these things together and you've got yourself an emoticon.

I think this event was really adorable. It is a great contrast from the very heavy, weighted, and depressing events happening frequently.  I think it cool thats a civilian discovered this versus a scientist at Hubble, it adds a layer of retainability to the article. I personally don't feel that this is some world changing story, but its fun and a breath of fresh air.
