Beer to become 'alcohol' in Russia on New Year's Day

12:53PM GMT 31 Dec 2012
It comes to no surprise when we hear that bear in Russia is considered a soft drink. We all know that the main source of alcohol or the most famous in Russia is vodka. Russians can drink an amazing amount of alcohol everyday, the average Russian drinks the equivalent of 32 pints of pure alcohol every year. Beer to the Russian's is no different than drinking a vitamin water or juice.Currently in Russia this light refresher is now becoming a new Russian nightmare on this New Year's Day. This Drunken Nation is going to finally get whats coming to them when beer is going to become an official alcoholic beverage. Until this year of 2013 the drink has always been known as a light drink or a food stuff, but now it has taken a turn on the Russians and is now known as an alcoholic beverage. Since this change many of the railway and basic corner stores are now taking down many different stronger brands of beer off the shelf. Also the store hours for selling beer or alcoholic drinks has changed, preventing sales between 11pm to 8am.
