Wolves in Russia: Amanda Kipp

Recently there has been an increase of wolf population in the Sakha region of Russia. These wolves have been preying on the abundant deer of this region but the people living in Sakha are not very happy about this since they rely on deer as an important source of food. Starting today, January 15, teams of hunters will be sent on a 3 month expedition to kill the wolves. Currently there are an estimated 3,500 wolves in this region and the target is to lower the population to 500. The hunting season has now been extended to the whole year in order to get this job done. Personally I think this is really sad and I wish the wolves could be relocated or something rather than having to kill them just for the sake of human needs.
