Rally Against Gay Marriage in Paris by Cruz Rendon

Three big marches decided to take place near The Eiffel Tower on the Champs de Mars. There were over 500,000 marchers against gay marriage that day so says the organizers although the government says there were much less that showed up. Either way, people aren't too happy with gay marriage.  France's Socialist Government wants to change their law so gay couples have the chance to get married but some citizens don't agree. With words like "We don't want your law, Francois" and "Don't touch my civil code," we can tell that some of the people in France aren't too happy with that.

"Frigide Barjot, who tweeted that the "crowd is immense" and told French TV that gay marriage "makes no sense" because a child should be born to a man and woman."

A poll was taken by  Le Nouvel Observateur stating that 56% of 1,000 people people supported gay marriage. 52% disapproved the Church's stand against legislature and 50% disapproved gay adoption.

People who were for gay marriage tried to start their own protests while the Pope Benedict was saying his prayers.
