Pakistani news anchor and journalish shot by Katelyn McLane

A political talk show host on Pakistani TV and former journalist named Hamid Mir was shot three times by gunmen. His brother, also a journalist, traced the attack back to the government, despite its firm denial. Mir had suspected that his assassination was being planned, after already having been banned from television by two Pakistani governments in 2007 and 2008. Luckily, he underwent a successful operation at a private hospital. There have been many other attacks recently on journalists, and the U.S. is trying to tell the Pakistani police to get more focused on the problem and try to put an end to it.

This is very scary and sad to me. First of all, these are journalists that are being shot. All they are doing is reporting news or voicing their opinions. I know we are very lucky to live in a country where doing those things won't cause your assassination to be planned. It must be very scary to be a journalist there and constantly feel like you have to watch your back in case someone comes at you with a gun. I hope Hamid Mir and others like him recover quickly and that the police get to the bottom of this soon.
