After a tremendous earthquake on Saturday, China put up a huge rescue operation in Sichuan province. Thousands of people were deployed in the process. Many workers used heavy equipment and explosives to get through blocked roadways. Getting to these areas was tough because of bad weather and massive aftershocks contributing to delay the rescue mission. More than 11,500 people were injured and more than 18,000 police and soldiers were sent out to help out with the rescue operation.

Wow, 11,500 people injured. I hope the rescue operation is successful in helping people get back on their feet. Maybe the Chinese government will rebuild infrastructure that can withstand stronger earthquakes.
ReplyDeleteI agree with my colleague.

ReplyDeleteI also agree. This earthquake was awful. I can't believe that so many people had been severely injured. After having such a big disaster like that, it would be hard for me to return to normal life, but I know it would have to be done one way or another. I am glad that a rescue operation is happening so that people can get back to their daily lives. I can only hope that the government in China and in other countries will help protect us from more awful natural disasters.
ReplyDeleteThat's an insane amount of people to get injured
