Visitors to Sri Lanka, the police are watching you. Do you feel safer? - Jack VanGorden

Sri Lanka's tourism arrival is increasing. As a result, they are upping security measures to guarantee safety. Some would even say to an "uncomfortable degree". A new nationwide policy is forcing all hotels in the region to submit information about the foreign guest to officials. Police stated that these changes are in place to better protect visitors. I think that the policy is going to be beneficial to the country but I hope that there are no drastic changes that could possibly persuade people to not wanting to visit Sri Lanka.

  1. I agree that they should do whatever they can to keep visitors safe, and also hope that they don't take it too far. There is a boundary in between safety and just being invasive.

  2. I also agree. I think that if these measures will better the people, then they should go for it. As long as no harm is done to the people, there is nothing wrong with upping security measures. This may even lead to a better and safe experience for tourists causing them to visit more often. I don't think that this should be taken to the extreme though. They don't want people to feel uncomfortable and not want to visit again.
