In China, two have died and one is critically ill from contracting a bird flu that has never been found in humans before. the two who died were from Shanghai, while a woman from nearby Chuzhou is in the hospital. The victims had symptoms of fever and coughing, which later developed into pneumonia. It is unclear how the disease, a strain of avian influenza, was contracted. It is known that they didn't contract it from one another, however. The flu typically exists in wild birds, but it could have been transmitted to poultry, and then spread to humans when consumed.
This article is very thorough and informative. I think it could be interesting to readers because it covers something generally unheard of. Hopefully scientists will figure out how humans contracted a bird flu, and find something that connects the three victims.

I thought we had a major bird flue pandemic a few years ago, right before the swine flue outbreak.
ReplyDeleteIf the bird flu was spread by humans consuming poultry, it's odd that only three people were affected by it.
