South Korean's 'Joke' May lead to Prison by Corsica Steding

A South Korean man was arrested after re-tweeting North Korean tweets that he thought were "funny".  He also tweeted a picture of himself and a North Korean flag.  He has now been accused of spreading North Korean propaganda.  He was imprisoned last January, and was let out on bail during February.  He also had a court appearance in mid-July.  Human rights groups are saying that the law is being used to "stifle their freedom of speech".

Paula Handcocks wrote this article for CNN on July 4th. Even though this article is a little bit out of date, it still describes the event thoroughly.  This article was written to inform anyone interested in the issue about what happened to the South Korean man.  Even if the reason behind his punishment is disagreeable, it still shows us that we should be careful about what we post online.

It goes to show that social media can get us into more trouble than we think.
