Nanjing has now become the third city in China to suspend live poultry trading, due to the unusual strain of bird flu. So far, 16 cases of H7N9 have been reported in eastern China and 6 people have died. Chinese authorities have killed over 20,000 birds from a live-poultry trading zone in Shanghai in an effort to deal with the sudden issue. Researchers in the United States have said that they have started working on a vaccine for H7N9. No cases of human-to-human transmission of the bird flu have been confirmed yet. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are working with Chinese authorities in an attempt to find the source of the human infections.
This seems like a very big issue. I hope that doctors can find a vaccine for the bird flu, so that the situation will not get out of control. I hope the flu stays out of the US and that we all stay healthy.

Hopefully a vaccine is found soon. That's kinda scary
ReplyDeleteIt is important that the sickness is kept from spreading.
ReplyDeleteBirds are dirty. I wish we could clean them all with soap.
