Chelsea, New York Explosion-Tori Gonzalez Current Event #4

On September 17 at approximately 8:30 pm in New York City, an explosion went off at 23rd Street and 6th Avenue. The device was apparently near a dumpster or was in a dumpster when it went off, and injured 29 people with 0 deaths. So far authorities have no reason to believe this is from a terrorist group, but are still keeping their eyes and mind wide open for any further information. New York Mayor, Bill de Blasio, told reporters that this was, however, an "intentional act".
So far, the only lead they have is on one person who was seen walking within the same area prior to the explosion. But despite this, investigators are still trying to find answers, especially after they found a pressure cooker on 27th Street which is just a few blocks away. Pressure cookers were the devices used on the Boston Marathon, which killed 3 people and injured 260.
Many police officers are trying to make sure the area is clear just in case any more explosives still remain. My heart goes out to the victims' families, and I am especially thankful that no one died during these explosions. But regardless of this, I still find it even more unfortunate that New York City still has a target on it's back to attacks like this.

  1. That is horrible! I am sad to hear that that many people got injured. Hopefully, the person who planted the bomb will be found. I hope the injured remain okay and have faith that they will find who did this.

  2. Hopefully the authorities will find whoever is planting the explosive devices so nobody will die, and no more people will get hurt. I hope that more information can be gathered to ensure the safety of the people that could potentially be affected.

  3. well its a good thing no one got hurt. i just don't understand why people would want to hurt other people. i hope they do find the person or group who are putting these explosives out.

  4. I hope they find the person responsible for this. its sad to think people keep coming after New York and only a couple of days after the remembrance of 9/11.

  5. I keep hoping for peace, but then things like this show up to squash it. I'm relieved no one died, but this is still terrible. The fact that they have no leads unnerves me a bit, because there's a chance whoever did this could get away with it.
