Priests Murdered in Mexico

In Poza Rica,Mexico two priests were abducted and killed.They has been a funeral and all the arrangements for them are getting set.There has been many people that have been in grief because the lost of one of their loved ones.The police say that the abduction could have had something to do with the Religious and Politican differences in the society right now.The President Enrique Peñanieto Is wanting to legalize the gay marriage but the churches are strongly opposing this idea.

Why couldn't the problem just be talked about? I don't understand what makes people go so far to get their way.
