Protesters in Ireland rally for abortion rights-jamie lerman

On October 21st in Dublin, Ireland, Savita Halappanavar went to the doctor with complaints of back pain. She was 17 weeks pregnant and the doctor had told her she had a miscarriage, but since Ireland has strict anti-abortion laws, there was nothing the doctor could do for her. With the combination of all her ailments Savita died at the age of 31 due to septicemia, a blood infection. Thousands of protesters gathered through the streets of Dublin protesting Woman's Rights and in memory of the woman who was denied her decision that could have saved her life.

Even though Ireland has strict anti-abortion laws, they should have given an exception to Savita. If the doctor was a good doctor he would have noticed that her request could have saved her life. under extreme circumstances, abortions are allowed to those who need it. Savita was one of those people. So maybe it was partly the doctor's fault for not considering the options to see what could have helped and saved her.

  1. That is really awful. The doctor should definitely considered the risks more heavily.
