Bullying reaching its limits By: Bella Morris

This week, three California university students have been charged with a hate crime for racially bullying their roommate. The students tortured the African American roommate by closing a bicycle lock around his neck, and decorating the room with the Nazi symbol and pictures of Hitler. If the students are convicted, they will have a year worth of jail time. The victim of this extreme bullying, has suffered minor neck injury's for trying to pry the lock off his neck.
The victims family was deeply disturbed by this torment, and is in shock for the discrimination going on in this generation today. A total of 8 men were living in this four bedroom suite, 5 of them turned their backs against this bullying, not participating in it, but not doing anything about it. This article was deeply disturbing to know that kids can go so far with tormenting other people. Its truly sicking that a friend would do this to another friend, friends or not, this should never happen to anyone.

  1. Thats disgusting! The 5 men who didnt participate should be charged with Negligence. Like, the victim must be in alot of mentally pain, as well as physical pain. I can't believe people, especially being our age, would do that to someone because that cant get over their skin color.

    1. I hope they really feel guilty that they didn't do anything to help him and now they have to live with that guilt, which they deserve. It really is disturbing that people can't get over someones race, religion, beliefs, etc. I really wish things were different in our society, i feel like its just going to keep getting worse.

  2. It's just mind-boggling to me that college kids these days can't accept people that are different from them. It's extremely stupid. I definitely think the three bullies should go to jail and not be allowed back to that college, but I also think the five bystanders should be punished in some way. Letting a peer that you LIVE WITH get tortured like that is still pure evil. There is definitely something wrong with their minds, too. I feel so bad for the victim and his family, and I agree that it's surprising that something like this could happen in our generation. I hope they're all okay.

  4. exactly, in my opinion they should serve longer than a year in jail. They need to face the consequences that they deserve. They ruined someones life and its just disgusting that they only have to pay for it for a year.

  5. really, thirteen people tortured this kid. Its just as bad as bullying if you dont speak up. Its reallly idiodic that college kids did this. Their school should just expell them immediatley.

  6. The fact that they only have to serve a year is very upsetting and scary to me. The kid who was bullied will never be the same and they only have to serve a year and they go free....Wow what has this come to. I mean it was just recently that a girl killed herself because of bullying, is this what kids are facing now?
