Nelson Mandela funeral By Jackson Daughety

Summary: On Sunday, Nelson Mandela was laid to rest in South Africa. This took place in the village where he grew up, Qunu. His burial included many rituals both American and African, and truely was a fitting ending to his memory. His wife, Graca Machel attended. The flag from his coffin was given to his family. The service was more of a celebration of his life than a mourning of his death. Reaction: I think this is a beautiful thing. This man was truely an inspiration and contributed so much to societ. I am glad that he was buried in such a beautiful way. http://www.cnn.com/2013/12/15/world/africa/nelson-mandela-qunu-funeral/index.html?hpt=hp_t3

  1. What's really weird is that apparently at his funeral, he had a FAKE translator!

  2. Glad that they put him to rest and thought about his death in a happy way instead of a sad one. Rest in peace Nelson Mandela.

  3. I think it's really healthy that it celebrated his life more than it mourned him, because that is productive and can remind us of what he achieved and motivate us to follow in his footsteps. I also think it's special that the funeral had multi-cultural rituals, because it shows what an influence he had on the world and that everyone is equal and has the right to celebrate in their own way.
