In chicago hundreds of teachers are goig on a huge strike, in the nation's third-largest public school system. With this big strike going on it could affect over 400,000 students and that's alot! While all of this confusion is going on city officials set up a plan to minimize the confusion by setting up 144 sites to provide lots of food, a secure safe envirment, and intresting activities if the strike does continue to occur.
From reading this article i can tell that no one will be affected or hurt more than the students, and that is just the honest truth. Well one of our cheif executive's named Jean-Claude Brizard said "Parents are urged to sign up students in advance to ensure those working at the sites are prepared." In another statement about this situation was said that "if contract negotiations have not settled by midnight September 9th, all teachers, counselors, nurses, and other professinals will go on strike!!"
Both ends of the situations have not come to a agreement about this even if it's "only been 10 months!" Really that's a long time. The strike will affect more than just the schools and students it will affect people's jobs, and wages will be cut. Evaluations are set right in front of everyone 'like a snake in a pantry" but both sides are far from reaching a secure agreement.
A strike will affect over 700 schools according to chicago public schools, i guess everyone is willing to take that risk.

Things must be really bad in the Chicago educational system if their teachers are going on strike. These teachers are willing to put their jobs on the line, and students' education for something. That is going to send a really powerful message. If I were in charge of Chicago public schools, I would start negotiating with the teachers before a strike breaks out. The results could be devastating and hard to recover from.
ReplyDeleteIt is really sad for the kid. the teacher are going on a riot about their jobs, but aren't even thinking one bit about the children that need the education.
