Italian Cruise Ship Capsizes by Graysha Assoun

A ship on their cruise around the Mediterranean capsized on the Costa Concordia, by hitting the ground and then tipping over. This accident ended in potentially 6 people dead and 69 still missing. About 4,000 including 3,200 passengers were on this cruise ship. This ship had a 160 foot gash which sunk the ship. Most passengers used lifeboats to reach to land, while others were picked up by helicopters or swam to shore. This ship, which was scheduled to begin in Civitavecchia, was supposed to travel through the Mediterranean, but capsized by hitting land. Some of the casualties out of the six dead people were two French passengers and one crew member from Peru. The ship's company is owned by U.S Carnival Corp and went into service in 2006. This was the largest vessel to sink, ever.
This unfortunate event shows us that random accidents can happen. This cruise ship has been in service since 2006 and never had any problems till a mishap accident that caused potentially six people to die and 69 passengers missing. Even the safest cruise ship is in risk of sinking. The sad part is, I bet there were many people that did not know that they were taking this risk and ended up missing. This teaches us to be aware and know we are taking risks in life  when doing something like going a cruise ship.

  1. That is so sad. Reminds me of the Titanic. I pray for all the lost souls and the people who passed away. So many things happen when the proper safety cautions aren't taken /:

  5. This just shows that you always have to be aware and prepared for accidents- even when you're on vacation! Ships don't sink very often, but it is always possible and you never know WHEN it will happen.
