West Nile Virus Outbreak

Center Of Disease Control officials are baffled by the recent outbreak of The West Nile Virus, and how

inexorable the disease has become. The death toll in Texas, New Mexico, and Oklahoma is rising and

hitting an acme of around 92. Typically, every year the West Nile Virus makes an appearance  in only

the South of the U.S, during late summer when mosquitos breed heavily. However, this year the virus

has spread to over 44 states. Know one has ever seen such a widespread outbreak.

Simply being aware, is the best way to avoid the virsus.

“Most people don’t realize that any container—from a pet dish to a potted plant, a coke can to a

trash receptacle—can be a breeding ground for mosquitoes. Eliminating the breeding grounds is

the best defense against spreading the disease,” reports Texas AgriLife Extension Specialist Janet Hurley."

Wear insect repellent, repair or replace screens on doors and windows, use air conditioning if

possible and empty standing water from all containers on the property.

  1. This virus is out of control. The government needs to hurry up and think of another way to kill the insect, because obviously the spraying isn't helping to well. So many people are dying.

  6. I have heard a lot about the west nile virus. My aunt is a registered nurse and work in the emergency department and she is always telling me how most of her patients are there because of the west nile. She said the symptoms take from 3 weeks to a month to affect you. And the symptoms are different for everyone but the most common ones are head ache, stomach ache.. ect.
