"4 charged in deadly Brazil nightclub fire" by Elaine Hennig

4 suspects connected to a deadly fire at a nightclub in Brazil have been charged and arrested. They were charged with homicide and attempted homicide. Those arrested include the two club owners, a vocalist, and a show producer. The musicians were accused of using pyrotechnics intended for outdoor use that they used indoors to save money. The club owners were accused of allowing the club to become overcrowded, which created a dangerous environment. The club was filled with more than 2,000 people, well beyond the club's capacity. When the club set fire, the crowd panicked, creating a stampede and blocking up the club's only exit. At least 235 people died.

This is a really unfortunate incident, and even more unfortunate knowing that it definitely could have been prevented. Clubs need to obey the capacity laws and use to correct equipment even if it costs more money. This should be an example to others so that they realize the horrible and deadly things that can happen when the rules aren't followed.

  1. That is so sad especially something that could have been prevented. How could people do something like this and feel good about themselves?

  2. I hope that other clubs hear about this and learn from it. This is so tragic and it should never happen again.
